    GEORGIAN FINANCE MINISTER: POST-COVID-19 ECONOMIES WILL NOT BE THE SAME WHAT THEY WERE BEFORE

    Georgia’s Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani pointed that results of COVID-19 pandemic, which affected economy, will be long-term.

    Machavariani indicated that “Post-COVID[-19] economies will not be same, what they were in the period, preceding COVID[-19]”.

    IN Q2, AVERAGE MONTHLY NUMBER OF DOMESTIC VISITORS DECREASED BY 37.2% Y-O-Y, AVERAGE MONTHLY EXPENSES – BY 25.2%

    Sakstat reported that in the 2nd quarter, average monthly number of Georgian domestic visitors of 15 years old and above made up 596,500, who made up 675,700 visits. Number of visitors has decreased year-on-year by 37.2%, while number of their visits – by 39.2%.


    SHARE OF HOUSEHOLDS, HAVING INTERNET ACCESS, INCREASED BY 4.6 PP

    Referring to research, conducted this year, Sakstat reported that share of Georgian households, having access to internet, made up 83.8%. If compared with indicator of 2019, the share has increased by 4.6 percentage points (pp).


    COMPUTERS ARE IN 61.8% OF GEORGIAN HOUSEHOLDS

    Referring to research, conducted this year, Sakstat reported that share of Georgian households, having personal computer in house, made up 61.8% (no data for previous period is provided). In urban settlements, the rate makes up 76%, while in rural areas – 42.4%.


    SHARE OF POPULATION, USING MOBILE PHONES, INCREASED BY 1.7 PP

    Referring to research, conducted this year, Sakstat reported that 86.5% of Georgians of 6 years and above have mobile phones (no data for previous period is provided). If compared with data of 2019, the rate has increased by 1.7 percentage points (pp).


    IN 6 MONTHS, PREMIUM PAID BY THE STATE WITHIN AGROINSURANCE PROGRAM TOTALED TO 6.5M LARI

    Report on 6-month execution of the state budget-2020, released by Georgian government, indicates that 13,374 policies were issued within the state program of agroinsurance.

    State share of insurance premium, paid in the reporting period by Agency on Rural and Agricultural Development, mounted to 6.5 million lari, the report specifies.


    STATE PROGRAM ON REHABILITATION OF TEA PLANTATIONS INCLUDES 39 BENEFICIARIES

    Report on 6-month execution of the state budget-2020, released by Georgian government, indicates that since the beginning of the state program on rehabilitation of tea plantations (“Georgian Tea”, launched in 2016), contracts are signed with 39 beneficiaries.

    Total area of plantations, included in the program, makes up 1,192 ha, while state co-financing totals to 2.1 million lari.

    AS OF JUNE 30, PROFIT OF “HUALING INSURANCE” INCREASED BY 11.5% Y-O-Y

    Hualing Insurance reported net profit of 789,914 lari for the first half of the year. According to report of this Georgian insurance company, the volume has increased by 11.5% year-on-year.


    “PRIME” REPORTED LOSS FOR FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR

    Prime reported loss of 164,690 lari for the first half of the year. According to report of this Georgian insurance company, there was profit of 181,142 lari in the same period of 2019.


    COMPETITION AGENCY ESTABLISHED UNFAIR COMPETITION AFTER COMPLAINT OF “GT MOTORS”

    Georgian Competition Agency announced completed the investigation, launched after complaint of GT Motors (vehicle service company) against LLC G.T. Motors.
