    SECOND ROUND OF PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS IS APPOINTED IN 17 MAJORITY DISTRICTS

    On November 21, the 2nd round of parliamentary elections will take place in 17 majority districts, Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC) declared. Besides, the 2nd round of early elections of Kutaisi mayor will be held on the same day.

    ADJUSTED DATA: IN 2019, GEORGIAN GDP INCREASED BY 5%

    Sakstat released adjusted data, according to which Georgia’s real GDP growth in 2019 made up 5%, while change of deflator – 5.2%.

    To remind, according to estimation, GDP growth in 2019 made up 5.1%, of deflator – 6.6%.


    REVENUE SERVICE: VAT SURPLUS WILL BE REFUNDED TO TAXPAYERS IN FULLY AUTOMATIC MODE

    Since November 17, taxpayers will be able to refund their surplus on declared VAT in fully automatic mode, Georgian Revenue Service announced.

    By means of new software, excessively paid VAT will be automatically transferred on the bank account, specified by the payer, without need to present formal request, the Service specified.


    RUSSIA ACCOUNTS FOR 96.6% OF GEORGIA’S APPLES EXPORT

    Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported that 4,709 t of apples were exported from the country between August 1 and November 15. In this volume, share of Russia makes up 4,550 t (96.6%).


    IN AUGUST-NOVEMBER, GEORGIA’S HAZELNUT EXPORT INCREASED IN NATURAL EXPRESSION BY 39% Y-O-Y, IN MONETARY EXPRESSION – BY 50%

    Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported that 10,179 t of hazelnut were exported from the country between August 1 and November 15. If compared with the same period of 2019, the volume has increased by 39%.


    EXPECTED VOLUME OF TANGERINE HARVEST MAKES UP TO 40,000 T

    Expected harvest of tangerines amounts in the current season to about 40,000 t, Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported. “The harvest is not abundant, but the quality has increased”, the Ministry noted.

    AS OF SEPTEMBER 30, LOSS OF “GEORGIAN RAILWAY” INCREASED BY 83.4% Y-O-Y

    JSC Georgian Railway reported loss of 117.7 million lari for the 3rd quarter. According to report of this state-owned company, the volume has increased by 83.4% year-on-year.


    MICROFINANCE ORGANIZATION “CRYSTAL” TO FUND SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES WITH CREDITS OF $15M, SECURED BY THE US AND SWEDEN

    Georgian microfinance organization Crystal reported that it will fund more than 5,000 micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises with credits of $15 million, which are guaranteed by the US and Sweden.

    The matter concerns a loan guarantee program, aiming support of Georgian private sector in overcoming the crisis, caused by COVID-19 pandemic.
