    DRAFT BILL “ON LAND OF AGRICULTURAL PURPOSE” TO BE INITIATED THIS MONTH

    Chairman of the Parliament’s Committee on Agrarian Issues Otar Danelia said that draft of the organic law “On Land of Agricultural Purpose” will be initiated in this month.

    The subject was considered at today’s meeting of Danelia with representatives of Council of Investors and American Chamber of Commerce in Georgia.

    FINANCE MINISTER: SETTLEMENT OF PROBLEM OF EXCESSIVE INDEBTEDNESS OF THE POPULATION NEEDS SYSTEMIC APPROACH

    “Excessive indebtedness is a complex problem in general and this problem requires systemic approach for overcoming”, Georgia’s Finance Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared. “The banking sector is able to take important steps in this plan”, he noted.


    FINANCE MINISTER: THE GOVERNMENT CONSIDERABLY ACCELERATED CAPITAL EXPENSES IN THE FORM OF INVESTMENTS IN INFRASTRUCTURE

    Finance Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze pointed that Georgian government considerably accelerated capital expenses in the form of investments in infrastructure. “Financing from international financial institutions is already found for all important investment projects”, he specified.


    DEPUTY PREMIER: THE IMF SUPPORTS ECONOMIC POLICY OF GEORGIAN GOVERNMENT

    “Successful accomplishment of the second review confirms that the IMF supports economic policy of Georgian government”, First Deputy Premier and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili declared at the briefing.

    The IMF mission was in Georgia during 2 weeks, preparing the second review of the ongoing program, Expanded Funding Facility (EFF) worth about $285.3 million.


    NBG PRESIDENT: GEORGIA MET ALL CRITERIA, ENVISAGED BY THE IMF PROGRAM

    Georgia met all criteria, envisaged by the IMF program “in directions of monetary, as well as fiscal policy and structural reforms”, president of National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Koba Gvenetadze declared.

    Gvenetadze declared the mentioned at the briefing, held today in administration of Georgian government in connection with successful accomplishment of the second review of the IMF’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF).


    HEAD OF COMMUNICATION COMMISSION: WE HAVE DEPLORABLE SITUATION WITH FIXED INTERNET

    “We have deplorable situation with fixed Internet”, chairman of National Communication Commission Kakha Bekauri declared. This is “the major challenge” personally for me and for the Commission, he declared in program “Interview of the Week” of Public Broadcaster.

    Since 2010, number of mobile Internet users increased by 2 million, Bekauri declared in program “Interview of the Week” of Public Broadcaster.

    “Today, the Commission has information only on what volume of advertising income this or that television has received”, chairman of National Communication Commission Kakha Bekauri declared in program “Interview of the Week” of Public Broadcaster.

    “Beyond this, we do not know even what was spent in what part, for example, advertising expenses, which advertiser were directly paid until they reached television itself”, Bekauri noted.


    “COLLIER GEORGIA”: NUMBER OF “AIRBNB” APPLICATIONS ON TBILISI INCREASED IN 2017 BY 70%

    Number of applications on Tbilisi, published on Airbnb (American online marketplace of short-term rent of private housing), had increased in 2017 by 70% and made up 9,679, Collier Georgia reported. According to the company, the average daily rate in Tbilisi makes up $43.

    Among Georgian pharmacy chains, PSP was the most active in media in 2017, accounting for 63% of total exposures, Institute for Polling and Marketing (IPM) declared. Similar rate of Aversi made up 20%, of GPC – 8%, of Pharmadepo – 6%.
