FORMER DIRECTOR GENERAL OF “RUSTAVI-2” SENTENCED TO 3.6 YEARS OF IMPRISONMENT
Tbilisi City Court announced today decree on case of Nika Gvaramia, former director general of TV company Rustavi-2, declaring him guilty of causing damage of 6.73 million lari to the TV company.
The court sentenced Gvaramia to 3.6 years imprisonment and charged him to pay a fine of 50,000 lari.
EFTA-GEORGIA JOINT COMMITTEE DISCUSSED PROSPECTS FOR TRADE RELATIONS’ DEVELOPMENT
On May 13, the Joint Committee of Georgia and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) held in Geneva (Switzerland) its 1st meeting.
At the meeting, the parties discussed trade relations and prospects for their development, reported Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
NBG: GEORGIAN BOND MARKET VOLUME MAKES UP 3.67% OF THE COUNTRY’S GDP
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that in 2021, volume of the country’s bond market increased by 8.8% (excluding non-governmental credit securities, dual listed on Georgian Stock Exchange, and deposit certificates).
As NBG pointed, volume of the bond market in 2021 made up 3.67% of Georgia’s GDP.
NBG: IN 2021, VOLUME OF TREASURY BOND MARKET MADE UP 9.4% OF GEORGIA’S GDP
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that in 2021, volume of the treasury bond market made up 9.4% of Georgia’s GDP. In 2020, that ratio made up 11.7%.
IN 2021, VOLUME OF REPO-TRANSACTIONS WITH TREASURY SECURITIES INCREASED 6.4 TIMES
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that in 2021, Georgian commercial banks carried out 10 repo-transactions on treasury securities with a nominal value totaling to 616.9 million lari.
If compared with 2020, the volume of repo-operations has increased 6.4 times, while their number – 2 times.
PREMIER: STOCK OF FLOUR IS MORE THAN SUFFICIENT, THE COUNTRY HAS WHEAT STOCK TOO
Stock of flour is more than sufficient and there is also wheat stock in the country, Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili declared at the government meeting today. At that, he pointed that “in just a month and a half, we will harvest our own wheat”.

Mariam Kvrivishvili, Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, declared that today 20 regular flights a week are carried out to 3 international airports of Georgia (Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi) from 5 cities of Kazakhstan. During the summer tourist season, number of flights from Kazakhstan will increase to 31, she said.
OVER 70 COMPANIES WERE REPRESENTED AT TBILISI MEETING OF THE ENERGY COUNCIL OF CONTINENTAL EUROPE
The 54th meeting of the Energy Council of Continental Europe was held in Tbilisi (May 13-14). The meeting was attended by 200 delegates, representing over 70 companies from the oil and gas sector, reported Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
