    GEORGIAN PREMIER PLANS TO VISIT ROMANIA IN APRIL

    Official visit of Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili to Romania is planned for April, administration of Georgian government reported.

    Details of the visit and issues of bilateral Georgia-Romania relations were discussed at the meeting today between Kvirikashvili and Romanian ambassador to Georgia Radu Liviu Horumba.


    THE GOVERNMENT PRESENTED RURAL DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY

    Georgian government presented on March 16 a strategy of rural development, defining priorities in this direction for 2017-2020. The government adopted the strategy in December 2016.


    PROSECUTORS OFFICE: 56 FACTS OF FORCED PROPERTY EXPROPRIATION UNCOVERED

    Main Prosecutor’s Office declared that its department for investigation of offenses, committed during legal proceedings (the matter concerns crimes, committed in 2005-2007), has uncovered 56 facts of forced property expropriation for now, recognized 100 citizens as victims of such expropriation and already returned (or is in process of return) property worth over 23 million lari.

    By January 1, the department has reported about uncover of 50 facts of forced expropriation, while in process of return was property worth over 20 million lari.

    GEORGIA TO HOST GEORGIA-HUNGARY BUSINESS FORUM IN APRIL

    Within visit of Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban to Georgia in April, Georgia-Hungary business forum is planned to hold, which will attract 50 Hungarian companies, administration of Georgian government reported.

    The mentioned was declared at the meeting between Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili with Hungary’s Foreign and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto, which was held in Tbilisi today.


    AJARA GOVERNMENT: REHABILITATION OF WATER SUPPLY AND SEWERAGE IS PLANNED TO CONTINUE IN MOUNTAINOUS MUNICIPALITIES

    Government of Ajara declared that water supply and sewerage systems’ rehabilitation project in the region’s mountainous municipalities is planned to continue. For implementation of this project, German Development Bank (KfW) allocated 20 million EUR.


    “SAKAERONAVIGATSIA” TO APPLY QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

    Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that LLC Sakaeronavigatsia (Georgian Air Navigation) is introducing quality management system. For that end, Sakaeronavigatsia has signed relevant contract with QMS Consulting.

    “TAV GEORGIA” IS GOING TO COMPLETE CONSTRUCTION OF NEW TERMINALS IN TBILISI AIRPORT IN JUNE

    Tea Zakaridze, deputy general manager of TAV Georgia (Tbilisi and Batumi airports operator), declared: “We think that we will be able to finish construction of the terminal in June 2017” and Tbilisi Airport will have capacity to serve already to 3.5 million passengers.

    Construction of arrival terminal on 12,000 square m, which started on June 27, 2016, was planned to complete in September 2017.


    “BGEO GROUP” ANNOUNCED LAUNCH OF SHARES’ REDEMPTION PROGRAM

    BGEO Group declared about launch of shares’ redemption program, London-based Alliance News reported.

    As the agency mentioned, the group will repurchase up to 4 million shares over the next 2 years for up to $50 million.


    “BGEO GROUP”: VOLUME OF TRANSACTIONS THROUGH POS TERMINALS OF “SAKARTVELOS BANKI” INCREASED IN 2016 BY 30.4%

    BGEO Group reported that by end of 2016, Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) had 10,357 POS terminals installed countrywide, increasing the number by 27.8% year-on-year.

    Volume of transactions, conducted in the reporting year through the bank’s POS terminals, made up 926.3 million lari, increasing by 30.4% year-on-year.


    BELARUS SUBSIDIARY OF “BGEO GROUP” REPORTED PROFIT DROP BY 84.6% FOR 2016

    BGEO Group said that its Belarus subsidiary BNB reported profit equivalent to 2.7 million lari for 2016 (year-on-year decrease – 84.6%). In the 4th quarter of the reporting year, BNB incurred a loss equivalent to 4.1 million lari.

    TWO PERSONS DETAINED ON CHARGE OF EXCISE STAMPS’ FORGING

    Finance Ministry’s Investigative Service reported that it has “detained 2 Georgian citizens on charge of producing-selling of counterfeit excise stamps, committed by previous concert in especially large volume by the group”.

    Investigation has established that members of the group have made 1.5 million counterfeit Georgian excise stamps for tobacco production by means of advanced printing technology, the Service said.
