    IN TEN DAYS VLADISLAV ARDZINBA WILL MAKE A DECISION WHETHER TO RUN FOR THE PRESIDENCY

    According to the information delivered from Sukhumi, Vladislav Ardzinba the separatists' leader made this statement in response to the central electoral commission's (CEC) proposal to register as the candidate on the post of the president during the upcoming elections. According to the CEC data, Ardzinba is the only candidate on the post of the president so far.


    THE QUESTION ON CREATION OF AN ELECTORAL BLOC BY THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE PARTIES CITIZENS' UNION AND LIBERATION OF ABKHAZIA HAS BEEN ALMOST SOLVED

    A SHIP WITH AMERICAN WHEAT ARRIVED IN POTI TODAY

    As it was explained at today's briefing at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, out of the 35,000 tons supplied 5,000 tons are to be distributed among refugees, 29,500 tons are to be sold at Tbilisi international grain and oil exchange, and 500 tons are to remain in the state reserve. Let us remind that the grain was supplied under the grant in the frame of the agreement signed by Georgian and American governments on July 28.


    STATE TREASURY BILLS EMISSION RESUMED

    The Ministry of Finance, as emitter, and the NB, as agent, are resuming state treasury bills emission since August 18. The emission was temporarily stopped almost a year ago.

    As the Minister of Agriculture and Food Bakur Gulua advised at today's briefing, a group of experts from Bayer will arrive in Georgia in September. The head of the East-European branch of the firm has recently visited Tbilisi.

    SINCE SEPTEMBER 1 THE FIRST FAMILY DOCTORS WILL START PRACTICE IN TBILISI

    Georgian medical doctors having passed special exams will start practice on the basis of the polyclinics functioning in the 5 districts of the capital. They had been prepared by 10 Georgian doctors, who received professional training in England 2 years ago and returned with international certificates giving the right for practice as family doctor and for training such specialists.


    HUMANITARIAN AID DELIVERED TO GEORGIA FROM THE USA

    The State Minister of Georgia Vazha Lortkipanidze met the director of the USA’s humanitarian organization Rebecca Braians today. The problems regarding American humanitarian goods, namely their quality and destinations, were discussed during the meeting.
