    GEORGIAN PREMIER TO VISIT IRAN

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili will pay official visit to Iran on April 22-23, administration of the government reported.

    Planned visit and bilateral relations were discussed at today’s meeting between Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

    AS OF MARCH, LARI SUPPLY INCREASED BY 20% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that lari supply by the end of March has amounted to 2.76 billion lari.

    If compared with the same period of 2016, the volume has increased by 20% (by 461.37 million lari).


    NBG PURCHASED $9.75M

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported purchase of $9.75 million on the currency auction today.

    Weighted average exchange rate made up 2.3861 GEL/USD.


    CROPS AREA MADE UP 239,200 HA

    According to preliminary data of Sakstat, area of agricultural crops totaled in 2016 to 239,200 ha, against of 308,400 ha in 2015.

    However, Sakstat stressed that data of 2016-2017 should not be compared with 2016-2015.


    TRANSMISSION ACCOUNTS FOR 41% OF INVESTMENTS, MADE BY ENERGY SECTOR’S LICENSEES IN 2016

    Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission reported that 41% of total investments, made in 2016 by electricity generation, transmission and distribution licensees, accounted for transmission.

    Generation and distribution account for 29% each.


    ENERGY CONSUMPTION BY HOUSEHOLDS REDUCED IN 2016, WHILE ONE OF NON-HOUSEHOLD SECTOR – GREW

    Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission reported that out of total consumption of Tbilisi distributor TELASI, non-household consumers accounted in 2016 for 62.8% (1.65 billion KWh), while household consumers accounted for remained 37.2% (977 million KWh).

    If compared with the previous year, consumption of non-household sector has increased by 28.7%.

    “ELLINAIR” TO PERFORM FLIGHTS TO TBILISI FROM THESSALONIKI AND HERAKLION

    In this summer, Greek air carrier Ellinair will conduct regular flights from Heraklion (Crete) to Tbilisi route, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared. The company will resume also flights on Thessaloniki-Tbilisi route.


    REGULATORY COMMISSION: MOBILE OPERATORS VIOLATED LIABILITIES ON INFORMATION TRANSPARENCY AND DISCRIMINATION PROHIBITION

    Georgian National Communication Commission declared that operators, having significant market power (MagtiCom, Geocell and Mobitel (Beeline trademark)), have violated liabilities on information transparency and discrimination prohibition. In this connection, the Commission issued written warnings to the operators.


    “ECO RESOURCE NATTECH” TO LAUNCH ENTERPRISE IN JUNE WITHIN “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” PROGRAM

    Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that LLC Eco Resource Nattech will start an enterprise in June within “Produce in Georgia” state program. According to the Ministry, investments in the project are estimated to amount to 816,331 lari.
