    THE GEORGIAN AND TURK MILITARY CONSIDERING ISSUES OF JOINT PARTICIPATION IN THE MAKE-PEACE OPERATION IN KOSOVO

    A delegation of the General Staff of Turk Armed Forces arrived in Tbilisi in order to settle certain organizational and technical matters related to participation of the Georgian military in the make-peace operation in Kosovo as part of Turk forces. As we were informed at the Coordinating center of NATO Partnership for Peace program at the General Staff of Georgian Armed Forces, a Georgian peacekeeping platoon, prepared at the Defense Ministry training center in Kojori will leave for Turkey for further training along with Azerbaijan peacekeeping units in a 25-day program.


    GEORGIAN STATE MINISTER RECEIVED THE HEAD OF OSCE MISSION

    At the meeting, the State Minister Vazha Lortkipanidze and the head of OSCE mission in Georgia Jan-Michele Lacomb spoke of the events in the South Caucasus in general and of the human rights protection problems in Georgia. On September 9 in Vienna, Lacomb will deliver a speech covering these issues.

    MOST GEORGIAN POULTRY FACTORIES ARE NOT FUNCTIONING

    As Bakur Gulua, the Minister of Agriculture and Food said at the briefing on August 17, only 2-3% of the industry is currently operated. At this time only 8 poultry factories are functioning and at only 10% of their capacity at that.


    RESULTS OF HALF-YEAR WORK TOWARDS ECONOMIC REFORMS ENHANCEMENT IN GEORGIA IN THE FRAME OF THE SPECIAL USA EMBASSY AND USAID PROGRAM SUMMARIZED

    State Minister Vazha Lortkipanidze had a meeting with US ambassador to Georgia Kenneth Yalowitz and USAID mission country director Michael Farbman. They discussed the results achieved by the special working groups created for fulfillment of this program.

    Emission volume made up 500,000 Lari with average annual yield of 14.76%. The next auction is to be held on September 15.


    THE BUDGET WILL GET 500,000 LARI AS A RESULT OF THE LAST ZERO AUCTION

    This is the information delivered during the press conference held at the State Property Management Ministry today. On this auction at the starting, zero prices were introduced the stocks of such JSCs as Ekrani (Tbilisi TV factory), Tolia (production association), Laini (production association in Gori) the total sum transferred to the budget has made up more than 15 million Lari since the beginning of the year.

    LARGE ENERGY OBJECTS PRIVATIZATION TENDER: ENVELOPE-OPENING SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 31

    This is what Irma Kavtaradze, the First Deputy Minister of State Property Management advised at today's briefing. She said that the tender application deadline was deferred for a week, for no official offers had come in yet.


    UNPROFITABLE SHIPS WILL BE SOLD

    As the first deputy State Property Management Minister Irma Kavtaradze declared at the press-conference today, in 2 months, several ships belonging to the LLC Georgian Shipping Company will be sold to cover the dept of the organization. In her words, together with the German firm Columbey, which became the owner of 50% of JSC's stocks, the plan has been worked out.


    AFTER 2 MONTHS THE EMPLOYEES OF THE AES TELASI WILL GET THE 5% OF THE STOCKS OF THE JSC

    This is the information delivered during the press conference held at the State Property Management Ministry today. So the demands of the employees of the company have been met and each member of the staff of AES TELASI will get 2,000 stocks (5% of all the stocks).

    THE GEORGIAN EXPERTS ARE READY TO GIVE A HAND TO THE TURKISH CITIZENS SUFFERING FROM THE RESULTS OF THE EARTH QUAKE

    The Ministry of Health of Georgia offered its help to Turkey in delivering a medical treatment to its citizens suffering from the results of the earthquake. As the deputy Health Minister Amiran Gamkrelidze declared, if Turkey accepst a help from Georgia, the special group of doctors is ready to go to the place of the disaster at any time.
