THE SPEAKER: CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS WILL BE ADOPTED SOON IN THIRD HEARING

Chairman of the Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze declared that “constitutional amendments will be adopted soon in third hearing”. Date of adoption of the project at the plenary session will be specified in near future, he said.




ECONOMIC POLICY COMMITTEE DID NOT SUPPORT DRAFT LEGISLATIVE AMENDMENTS IN SPHERE OF FOOD SAFETY

At the meeting today, the Parliament’s Committee on Branch Economy and Economic Policy considered draft amendments to Code on Food/Forage Safety, Veterinary Science and Plants’ Protection.

Members of the Committee brought their remarks on the draft and did not support the amendments in the presented form, the Parliament reported.

IN FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR, ECONOMY GREW BY 4.9% Y-O-Y

According to quarterly calculations of Sakstat, real economic growth in the 1^st quarter made up 5.1%, while in the 2^nd quarter – 4.7%. Respectively, economic growth in the first half of the year made up 4.9%.




AVERAGE CONSUMER’S LIVING WAGE INCREASED IN AUGUST BY 7.3% Y-O-Y

Sakstat declared that average consumer’s living wage amounted in August to 148.3 lari. If compared with the same period of 2016 (138.2 lari), the indicator has increased by 7.3%.

AGREEMENT SIGNED ON HAND-OVER OF 75% IN POTI INDUSTRIAL ZONE TO CHINESE “CEFC”

Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported about signing of agreement, envisaging hand-over of 75% in Poti industrial zone to Chinese CEFC. The document was signed within business forum in China (Xiamen), the Ministry said.




AS OF JUNE 30, PROPERTY INSURANCE PREMIUM INCREASED BY 7.2% Y-O-Y

State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that premium, attracted in property insurance as of June 30, amounted to 38.73 million lari, increasing by 7.2% year-on-year. This segment accounts for 15.7% of total insurance premium for the period.




AS OF JUNE 30, FREIGHT INSURANCE PREMIUM INCREASED BY 13.2% Y-O-Y

State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that premium, attracted in freights insurance as of June 30, amounted to 2.71 million lari, increasing by 13.2% year-on-year. This segment accounts for 1.1% of total insurance premium for the period.

Tbilisi-based business consulting company Experto declared that former marketing director for TBC Bank, TeliaSonera and MagtiCom Gary Koeb has joined the firm as a senior managing partner.

Koeb has “a long-standing relationship with Georgia, as well as the CIS, Middle East and Eurasia”, founder and managing director of Experto Ludovic Girod noted.




ECONOMY MINISTRY: “KARTULI DAPNA” DELIVERED PRODUCTION TO KUWAIT, KOREA AND HONG KONG WITHIN “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” PROGRAM

Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that company Kartuli Dapna (Georgian Laurels), being supported by the Ministry’s Produce in Georgia Agency, has delivered production to Kuwait, Korea and Hong Kong.

With assistance of the Agency, the company took part in food and drinks exhibitions (GULFood 2017 and HOFEX 2017) and managed to sign contracts, the Ministry said.

“RED BULL GERGETIT” COMPETITION HELD IN GEORGIA FOR THE 3^RD TIME

Extreme relay competition Red Bull GerGetIt was held on September 16 in Stepantsminda (Kazbegi municipality of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region), in which 11 teams took part.

According to organizers, this year’s event attracted athletes from Georgia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Holland and Russia.
