    EX-PRESIDENT BLAMED GEORGIAN AUTHORITIES FOR MANIPULATION STATISTICAL DATA

    In his Facebook video address, Georgian ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili claims that current authorities of Georgia manipulate statistical data. That way he commented recent report of Sakstat about recalculation of data on Georgia’s population and volume of investments.


    TOURISM ADMINISTRATION: GEORGIA’S POSITION IN ICCA RATING IMPROVED

    In the rating of International Congress Convention Association (ICCA) for 2017, Georgia’s score has improved by 6 points in comparison with 2016, Georgian National Tourism Administration reported.

    According to ICCA, Georgia is on the 81st position in the world and on the 36th – in Europe.


    NUMBER OF SLAUGHTERHOUSES AND COLD STORAGE FACILITIES INCREASED

    Sakstat reported that 103 slaughterhouses operated in Georgia in the 1st quarter (against of 72 in the 4th quarter of 2017).

    Out of total, 19.3% are located in Kvemo Kartli region, per 14.6% – in Shida Kartli and Kakheti, 13.6% – in Imereti, 9.7% – in Samegrelo – Zemo Svaneti.


    STARTING COST OF SAND AND GRAVEL LICENSE INCREASED

    Initial license cost of some minerals, used as construction materials, for example, sand and gravel, was optimized, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.

    Auction price of license for sand and gravel extraction, recalculated according to updated formula, makes up 67 tetri per 1 cubic m instead of former 14 tetri, the Ministry said, noting former price was inadequate to the actual selling price.

    ECONOMY MINISTRY: AT LEAST 30M LARI WILL BE INVESTED IN CALCITE EXTRACTION IN TSKALTUBO

    Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported about issuing of license for development of calcite deposit in Mekveni (Tskaltubo municipality of Imereti region). Respective auction was won by JSC Micron Caucasus.


    ECONOMY MINISTRY: AT LEAST $5M WILL BE INVESTED IN TOURIST COMPLEX IN UTSERA

    Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that at least $5 million will be invested within 7 years in development of mineral water’s deposit in Utsera village (Oni municipality of Racha region) and construction of tourist and health-improving complex for not less than 50 beds.

    The Ministry said that these are terms of license, which was won by BG Investment on the auction, held in this month.


    DETAILED DESIGN OF ANAKLIA PORT TO BE PREPARED BY “BERGERABAM”

    The detailed design of deep-water port of Anaklia will be developed by the construction engineering company BergerABAM (member of American Louis Berger Group), Anaklia Development Consortium reported.

    Consortium indicated that the company was selected through international tender, in whom part was taken by the companies from the global top twenty.


    “TAV GEORGIA” REFUSES CHARGES OF “GEORGIAN AIRWAYS”

    TAV Georgia (operator of Tbilisi and Batumi airports) refused charges, made by Georgian Airways, and declares that information distributed by this Georgian airline is “absolutely groundless and does not correspond to reality”.

    According to Georgian Airways, management of the airline tries during 1 year to hold negotiations with TAV Georgia on different issues, in order “to manage to cut price of tickets, what they refuse”.


    9 BROKER COMPANIES, ENGAGED IN TRADE WITH FOREIGN CURRENCY OR FINANCIAL INSTRUMENTS, DEPENDING ON EXCHANGE RATE, ARE REGISTERED AT THE MOMENT

    To remind that organization of trade with foreign currency by means of trading platform (so-called FOREX) or with financial instruments, depending on exchange rate, since April 11 of this year is subject to regulation by National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

    According to NBG, as of May 21 broker activity in this segment are authorized to conduct 9 companies.

    ONE MORE FACT OF POLLUTION OF GEORGIAN TERRITORIAL WATERS IS REVEALED

    Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported about another fact of pollution of Georgian territorial waters.

    Namely, ship Luebeck, flying Liberian flag, has dumped waste fecal waters in the port of Poti.
