    GEORGIAN PREMIER: WE CANNOT IMPOSE SO-CALLED NATIONAL ECONOMIC SANCTIONS ON RUSSIA

    “For very obvious reasons, we cannot impose so-called national economic sanctions on Russia”, declared Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. “We have our own national interests, our own security challenges, economic challenges – that is basically our motivation”, he pointed.

    IN Q1, GEORGIA’S REAL GDP GROWTH MADE UP 14.9%

    Sakstat released estimation, according to which the country’s GDP in current prices amounted in the 1st quarter to 14.35 billion lari. If compared with the same period of 2021, the volume has increased by almost 25%.


    WB RAISED GEORGIA’S GDP GROWTH FORECAST FOR 2022

    The June forecast of the World Bank (WB) envisages that Georgia’s GDP will grow by 5.5% in 2022 (as well as in 2023). In March, the WB forecasted growth for 2022 at the level of 2.5% only.


    IN Q1, AVERAGE MONTHLY NOMINAL SALARY IN GEORGIA INCREASED BY 15.1% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat reported that in the 1st quarter, the average nominal monthly salary in Georgia made up 1,446 lari. If compared with the same period of 2021, the sum has increased by 15.1%, or by 190.3 lari.


    IT IS PLANNED TO ALLOW THE STATE TO PARTICIPATE IN INVESTMENT FUNDS

    The Georgian Parliament is considering a package of legislative amendments, which grant the right to the state to participate in investment funds (currently, this is not envisaged by Georgian legislation). This right will be assigned with the proviso that the state will not be able to influence decisions of the fund.


    MAJORITY OF GEORGIAN COLD STORAGE FACILITIES AND ELEVATORS USE CREDITS, MAJORITY OF SLAUGHTERHOUSES DON’T

    Sakstat reported that out of 273 cold storages, operating in Georgia as of 2021, 75.5% used credits. Of them, 45.1% taken loans only for fixed capital, 5.8% – only for working capital, 49% – for both fixed and working capital.


    47% OF COLD STORAGES, 41% OF ELEVATORS AND 25% OF SLAUGHTERHOUSES IN GEORGIA ARE FULLY EQUIPPED WITH MODERN TECHNOLOGIES

    Sakstat reported that out of 273 cold storage facilities, operating in Georgia as of 2021, 47.3% were fully equipped with modern technologies. More 44.3% were partially equipped, while 8.4% were not equipped with modern technologies at all, Georgian statistics service said.

    IN 2021, NUMBER OF MUSEUM VISITORS INCREASED IN GEORGIA BY 160.5%, NUMBER OF THEATER VIEWERS – BY 46.3%

    Sakstat reported that in 2021, number of visitors of the country’s museum made up 807,200. If compared with 2020, the number has increased by 160.5%.
