    GEORGIA’S POSITION IN CORRUPTION PERCEPTION INDEX WORSENED

    Corruption Perception Index 2017, published by Berlin secretariat of Transparency International, places Georgia with 56 points on the 46th place among 180 countries.

    “By results of this year, Georgia’s ranking in the Index has worsened in comparison with previous year, but (according to research methodology) 1-score decrease is recognized insignificant”, Georgian branch of the organization, TI Georgia declared.


    SPEAKER: HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS LARI WERE SQUANDERED IN ZERO SOCIAL INFLUENCE IN “PUBLIC BROADCASTER”

    In past years, “hundreds of millions lari were squandered in zero social influence in Public Broadcaster”, speaker of Georgian Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze declared.

    “Unfortunately, nobody thought about what was going on in Public Broadcaster”, the speaker stated, pointing that “this situation naturally demanded change and to this change serves” the draft bill “On Broadcasting”, which the President had vetoed.

    PROFIT TAX REFORM IN FINANCIAL SECTOR TO LAUNCH IN 2023

    “We decided to postpone term of profit tax reform in financial sector until January 1, 2023”, the Finance Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared. The decision is made after consultations with both the IMF and the financial sector, he noted.


    BASIC TERMS OF CIVIL AIRFIELDS’ DESIGN AND OPERATION ARE ADOPTED

    The government approved technical regulation regarding basic terms of design and operation of airfields of civil aviation.

    Respective resolution of the government indicates that it will not cause need of afresh certification of those airfields, which were already certified before its entry in force.


    ECONOMY MINISTRY: TEXTILES EXPORT IN 2013-2017 HAD INCREASED BY 17.4% Y-O-Y ON AVERAGE

    In 2013-2017, Georgia exported textiles worth $408 million, i.e. $82 million annually on average, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili declared.

    The Minister said that average year-on-year growth of textiles export for the mentioned period made up 17.4%.


    JAPAN TO FUND CONSTRUCTION OF KINDERGARTEN IN IDPS’ SETTLEMENT IN MTSKHETA MUNICIPALITY

    Japan allocates $63,059 for construction of kindergarten in the settlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in village of Frezeti (Mtskheta municipality of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region).

    Respective grant agreement between Japanese embassy and non-governmental organization ACTS Georgia was signed in Tbilisi today.

    “BADAGONI”: REPRESENTATIVES OF THE EU ANXIOUS THAT LAWSUIT ON BUSINESS STAKES IS CONSIDERED BY FINANCIAL POLICE, NOT BY CIVIL COURT

    Winemaking company Badagoni reported that its owner Giorgi Salakaia met on February 21 the EU deputy ambassador in Georgia and the EU political adviser.

    As the company’s statement reads: “Representatives of the EU fixed their concern because of consideration of lawsuit, connected with business stakes, by financial police instead of civil court”.


    FLIGHTS TO MOSCOW AND ST. PETERSBURG TO LAUNCH FROM KUTAISI

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that flights to Moscow and St. Petersburg will be conducted from Kutaisi airport. Flights will be performed by Russian low-coster Pobeda Airlines.


    IRISH “RYANAIR”, PERHAPS, WOULD APPEAR IN GEORGIAN IN 2019

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that Irish lowcoster RyanAir, perhaps, will appear in Georgia in 2019.

    The final decision will be made after negotiations with Georgia Civil Aviation Agency and renewal of the company’s fleet, the Ministry declared.

    FACT OF ILLEGAL COLLECTION OF TECHNOGENIC WASTE DETECTED

    Fact of illegal collection of 4 t of technogenic waste (silico-manganese) is detected in Kvaliti settlement of Zestaponi municipality (Imereti region), the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported.

    As the Ministry said, before consideration of the case, all 58 bags with technogenic waste, collected by private individual, were sealed by law enforcement officers.
