    “TI GEORGIA”: STANDARDS OF PUBLIC SERVICE ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY STILL DO NOT APPLY TO LEPLS

    TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International, says that LEPLs (legal entity of public law) in Georgia employ tens of thousands of people and their expenses, being covered from the country’s budget, total to hundreds of millions of lari.

    However, because of the incomplete legislative reform, the same standards of accountability and transparency as in the public service do not apply to LEPLs still, TI Georgia points.


    “TI GEORGIA”: SHORTCOMINGS REVEALED IN PROPERTY DECLARATIONS OF OFFICIALS IN AJARA MUNICIPALITIES

    TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International, said that it has conducted study of property declarations, filed by officials of 6 municipalities of Ajara Autonomous Republic in 2021-2022. In 20% of these declarations, violations were revealed, the organization pointed.

    MINISTRY: WITH EU AND EBRD SUPPORT, WORK IS UNDERWAY TOWARDS SETUP OF REGIONAL FACILITY FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE STORAGE

    Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture declared that with the financial support of the EU and EBRD, work is underway towards setup of a regional facility for storage of hazardous waste.

    “Support of financial institutions and active involvement of ministries are very important for construction of the new landfill”, Deputy Minister Solomon Pavliashvili declared.


    CONSTRUCTION OF THE 3RD SECTION OF SAMTREDIA-GRIGOLETI ROAD BEGINS

    Construction of the 12-km section (3rd lot) of Samtredia-Grigoleti road (part of the East-West Highway, E60) begins, Georgian Roads Department reported.

    For this purpose, an agreement was signed with the Chinese Hunan Road & Bridge Construction Group Co., Ltd.


    NBG PUBLISHED NEW DRAFT OF NATIONAL STRATEGY FOR FINANCIAL EDUCATION

    Today, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) published a new draft of the national strategy for financial education. The current strategy was developed in 2016.

    PARLIAMENTARY COMPETITION COMMISSION SELECTED “KPMG” AGAIN AS NBG’S FINANCIAL STATEMENTS AUDITOR

    The Competition Commission of Georgian Parliament selected KPMG Georgia as the auditor of National Bank of Georgia (NBG) for 2022-2023.

    To remind, KPMG Georgia conducted audit of NBG activities in 2018-2019 and in 2020-2021.


    AS OF JUNE 30, PROFIT OF “CARTU BANK” DECREASED BY 9.5% Y-O-Y

    Cartu Bank reported net profit of 14.47 million lari for the 2nd quarter. If compared with the same period of 2021, the volume has decreased by 9.5%.


    AS OF JUNE 30, LOSS OF “VTB BANK GEORGIA” MADE UP 91.5M LARI

    VTB Bank Georgia reported loss of 91.5 million lari for the 2nd quarter. For the same period of last year, the bank had profit of 19.37 million lari.
