CANDIDATE ON PREMIER’S POST: 2021 WILL BE EXTREMELY HARD AND FULL OF CHALLENGES
Giorgi Gakharia, ruling Georgian Dream’s nominee for the post of Georgia’s Prime Minister, declared that COVID-19 pandemic “has tested all institutions of the state” and “year 2021 will be also extremely hard and full of challenges”. He said this today in the Parliament, at the meeting with members of Georgian Dream fraction.
CANDIDATE ON PREMIER’S POST: DRUGS’ PRICES SHOULD DECREASE IN THE COUNTRY
“Drugs’ prices in the country should decrease and our citizens’ payments from pockets should be reduced”, ruling Georgian Dream’s nominee for the post of Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia declared.
“The main goal is that all this shouldn’t affect quality and efficiency of treatment”, Gakharia pointed today at the meeting with members of parliamentary fraction of Georgian Dream.

At the city government meeting today, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze touched upon the issue of misappropriation of the state lands again. “Misappropriation of property and placement of buildings on it is absolutely unacceptable and we won’t allow this”, he said.
INFLATION TARGET FOR 2021-2023 REMAINS AT 3%
Draft of main directions of monetary and currency policy for 2021-2023 envisages maintenance inflation target for the mentioned period at old level of 3%.
“As shocks happen all the time, inflation will mostly differ from the target level, sometimes it will be above the target, sometimes below”, said president of National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Koba Gvenetadze on December 22 in the Parliament, introducing the mentioned draft to the Fiscal Committee.
EIB TO ALLOCATE 100M EUR IN SUPPORT OF GEORGIA’S HEALTHCARE
The EU representation in Georgia reported that European Investment Bank (EIB) invests 100 million EUR (about 400 million lari) “to support healthcare infrastructure in Georgia”.
As the representation noted, the EU-guaranteed credit will assist Georgia in modernization of 7 major hospitals, including those commissioned for COVID-19 patients.

However, “Even in condition of COVID-19 pandemic, tendency of growth of Georgian wine export to strategic market is kept”, he pointed.
TBILISI MAYOR: ECONOMIC PACKAGE IS WORKED OUT IN SUPPORT TO BUSINESS SECTOR
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze declared about working out of economic package, aiming support to business sector in conditions of COVID-19 pandemic.
At the city government meeting today, the Mayor pointed that benefits will concern first of all, those entities, which lease space from the municipality.
RURAL DEVELOPMENT AGENCY: WITH ASSISTANCE OF THE STATE, 16 NEW ENTERPRISES WERE CREATED IN 2020
Georgian Agency for Rural Development reported that 6 processing enterprises and 10 storage enterprises were financed within the co-financing project this year. Total investments exceed 19 million lari, the Agency said.
