“We do not have a problem of oligarchs in the country, we never had and will never have it”, declared Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, while addressing to the Georgian Parliament on June 22.
“De-oligarchization” is among those 12 conditions, which Georgia must fulfill in order to obtain the status of a candidate country for EU membership.
GEORGIA PLANS TO LAUNCH CERTIFICATION PROGRAM FOR INTERNAL AUDITORS OF STATE AGENCIES FROM 2023
It is planned to launch a national certification program for internal auditors of state agencies from 2023, Georgian Finance Ministry reported. This is another step towards harmonization with EU requirements and international standards, the Ministry noted.
AUDIT SERVICE: IN ORCHARDS, FUNDED WITH 1.33M LARI IN 2018-2020 UNDER THE “SOW THE FUTURE” STATE PROGRAM, 100% OF SEEDLINGS ARE WITHERED
Georgian State Audit Service conducted a compliance audit of the Rural Development Agency’s program “Sow the Future” for 2018-2020.
During a visual inspection of orchards, having significant risks, it was revealed that in 15 orchards, funded with 1.33 million lari, 100% of seedlings were withered, the Service reported.
VOLUME OF SUBSIDY FOR UTILITY BILLS, ALLOCATED BY GEORGIAN BUDGET IN 2021, IS BY 26% LESS COMPARED TO 2020
Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission reported that 214.35 million lari was allocated for utility bills’ subsidies in 2021. If compared with 2020 (289.08 million lari), the volume has reduced by up to 26%.
IN 2021, VOLUME OF COMPENSATION TO CONSUMERS FOR VIOLATION OF GUARANTEED STANDARDS BY DISTRIBUTORS INCREASED 2.1 TIMES
Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission reported that distributor companies paid 612,885 lari in 2021 as compensation to consumers because of violation of guaranteed standards. If compared with 2020, the volume has increased 2.1 times.
IN 2021, VOLUME OF ELECTRICITY CONSUMED BY DIRECT CONSUMERS INCREASED BY 46%
Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission reported that volume of electricity, consumed by direct consumers in 2021, increased by 46% compared to 2020. If compared with 2019 (last pre-pandemic year), the volume has increased by 24%, the Commission said.
IN 2021, NUMBER OF NET ACCOUNTING CONSUMERS INCREASED 1.5 TIMES, THEIR CAPACITY – 4.35 TIMES
Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission reported that in 2021, there were 368 consumers (micro power stations) with a total capacity of 17,711 kW registered in the net accounting system.
In the reporting year, number of such consumers has increased 1.5 times, while capacity of their power stations, connected to the system – 4.35 times, the Commission said.
LAUNCH OF GAS EXCHANGE IS EXPECTED FOR 2023
Concept of Georgian natural gas market model envisaged launch of the gas exchange in in the country by the end of 2022.
David Narmania, chairman of Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission, said that the gas exchange has been already registered, but terms of its launch have been postponed.
