    ECONOMY MINISTER: WE PLAN TO TURN GEORGIA INTO A TRANSIT CORRIDOR AND LOGISTICS HUB

    “We plan to turn Georgia into a transit corridor and a logistics hub”, declared Levan Davitashvili, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.

    While speaking at the 21st ministerial of the organization of Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC), which was held online, Davitashvili stressed importance of the CAREC strategy in the field of transport and noted: “Development of transport infrastructure is among the top priorities, outlined by the Georgian government”.

    IN Q3, NUMBER OF GEORGIAN RESIDENTS’ TRIPS ABROAD INCREASED 3.9 TIMES Y-O-Y

    Sakstat reported that in the 3rd quarter, Georgian travelers (persons of any age, who move between geographical areas with any duration and purpose) made up 693,400 trips abroad. If compared with the same period of 2021, the number has increased 3.9 times.


    UP TO 2 HA IS ADDED TO TBILISI PARK “MZIURI”

    The territory of up to 2 ha is added to area of Mziuri park, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze declared today.

    The land plot is returned in ownership of the municipality through substitution, negotiated with the private owner, the Mayor explained, adding that in order to develop this territory, preparation of a project will begin.

    AS OF 2021, 10 ENTERPRISES ACCOUNTED FOR 59% OF THOSE EMPLOYED IN STATE-OWNED ENTERPRISES

    The Georgian government reported that as of December 2021, total number of state-owned enterprises’ employees made up 59,300 (year-on-year growth – 3.2%). In total number, 10 enterprises accounted for 59%.


    LLC “MARABDA-KARTSAKHI RAILWAY” FINISHED 2021 WITH PROFIT

    The Georgian government reported that in 2021, profit of state-owned LLC Marabda-Kartsakhi Railway totaled to 123.91 million lari. In 2020, the LLC reported loss of 383 million lari.


    IN 2021, LOSS OF LLC “GEORGIAN MELIORATION” DECREASED 12.7 TIMES

    In 2021, loss of LLC Georgian Melioration (100% owned by Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture) totaled to 7 million lari. If compared with 2020, the volume has decreased 12.7 times.


    IN 2020, PROFIT OF LLC “GEORGIAN POST” INCREASED 4.4 TIMES

    In 2021, profit of state-owned LLC Georgian Post made up 31 million lari. If compared with 2020, the volume has increased 4.4 times.


    ADB AND “SAKARTVELOS BANKI” AGREED ON PARITY RISK-SHARING TO PROMOTE SUPPLY CHAIN FINANCING IN GEORGIA

    The Asian Development Bank (ADB) declared about signing of a risk-sharing agreement with Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) in order to promote supply chain financing in Georgia. As ADB noted, this is the first such agreement in its practice.
