    PPI IN LAND FREIGHT TRANSPORTATION DECREASED IN MARCH BY 4.7% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat released March estimation, according to which producer price index (PPI) in freight transportations by land made up 95.3% if compared to the same month of 2016.

    At that, PPI in railway transport made up 88.7%, motor transport – 102%, while transportation via pipelines – 96.8%.


    CONSTRUCTION PPI IN MARCH INCREASED BY 7.6% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat released March estimation, according to which producer price index (PPI) of materials, purchased for construction, made up 107.6% if compared to the same month of 2016.

    At that, PPI in buildings’ construction made up also 107.6%.


    FOREIGN REMITTANCES TO GEORGIA IN Q1 GREW BY 22.3% Y-O-Y, GEORGIAN REMITTANCES ABROAD – BY 1.4%

    National Bank of Georgia reported that foreign remittances to Georgia totaled in the 1st quarter to $290.07 million. If compared with the same period of 2016, the volume has increased by 22.3%.


    FIVE COUNTRIES ACCOUNTED FOR 72.8% OF FOREIGN REMITTANCES TO GEORGIA IN Q1

    National Bank of Georgia reported that 72.8% of total remittances, transferred to Georgia in the 1st quarter ($290.07 million), falls on 5 countries. Top five comprises of Russia, the US, Greece, Italy and Turkey.


    RUSSIA AND UKRAINE ACCOUNTED IN Q1 FOR 54% OF GEORGIAN REMITTANCES ABROAD

    National Bank of Georgia reported that 54% ($44.8 million) of remittances, transferred in the 1st quarter from Georgia abroad, falls on Ukraine and Russia.

    Remittances to Russia amounted to $19.25 million (43% of total volume), increasing by 9.5% year-on-year.


    BY END OF MARCH, NUMBER OF DEBIT CARDS INCREASED BY 12.6% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that 8.55 million debit cards were in circulation in the end of March. The number has increased by 12.6% year-on-year and by 0.2% – quarter-on-quarter.


    BY LATE MARCH, NUMBER OF CREDIT CARDS DECREASED BY 9.1% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that 685,098 credit cards were in circulation in the end of March. The number has decreased by 9.1% year-on-year and by 9.7% – quarter-on-quarter.

    “ALDAGI” ACCOUNTED FOR 75.9% OF PENSION CONTRIBUTIONS IN 2016

    State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that pension contributions totaled as of December 31, 2016, to 4.07 million lari, declining by 14.1% year-on-year.

    As before, pension insurance is provided by two companies again: Aldagi and GPI Holding.


    “UKRAINE INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES” TO MAKE FLIGHTS ON ZAPOROZHE-BATUMI ROUTE

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that regular flights between Batumi and Ukraine’s Zaporozhe will be made this summer.

    Ukraine International Airlines will start flights from June 21.
