    IMF: NBG SHOULD PERSEVERE IN ITS EFFORTS TO BRING INFLATION BACK TO TARGET WHILE MAINTAINING FLEXIBLE EXCHANGE RATE REGIME

    IMF declared that National Bank of Georgia (NBG) “should persevere in its efforts to bring inflation back to target while maintaining the flexible exchange rate regime”.

    IMF indicated that as in many other countries, external events cause inflation in Georgia to exceed target for some time.


    IMF: REFORM OF STATE-OWNED ENTERPRISES IS A CRITICAL STEP TO MITIGATE FISCAL RISKS

    The reform of state-owned enterprises “is a critical step to mitigate fiscal risks”, IMF said. As IMF noted, Georgia’s Fiscal Risks Statements have identified key vulnerabilities, and now the priority is to eliminate them.


    GEORGIAN BUDGET-2021 ENVISAGED FUNDS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF DEEP-WATER PORT OF ANAKLIA

    The Georgian government reported that the state budget for 2021 envisaged 772,000 lari under the article “Development of the Deep-Water Port of Anaklia”. The actual financing made up 703,000 lari.


    GEORGIAN PARLIAMENT RATIFIED LOAN AGREEMENT WITH NEFCO

    On June 23, the Georgian Parliament ratified the loan agreement with the Nordic Environmental Finance Corporation (NEFCO).

    The agreement envisages allocation of 3.9 million EUR by NEFCO for improvement of learning conditions and development of a social platform for pupils in mountainous regions of the country.

    IN 2021, “TELASI” AND “TELMICO” ACCOUNTED FOR 85.5% OF CONSUMERS’ APPLICATIONS/COMPLAINTS IN GEORGIAN ELECTRICITY SECTOR, RECEIVED BY REGULATING COMMISSION

    Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission reported that 1,677 applications/complaints were received in 2021 regarding contentious issues in the electricity sector. If compared with 2020, the number has increased by 24.8%.


    IN 2021, “TBILISI ENERGY” ACCOUNTED FOR 59% OF CONSUMERS’ APPLICATIONS/COMPLAINTS IN GEORGIAN GAS SECTOR

    Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission reported that 1,087 applications/complaints were received in 2021 regarding contentious issues in the gas sector. If compared with 2020, the number has decreased by 18.3%.


    IN 2021, “GWP” ACCOUNTED FOR 87% OF CONSUMERS’ APPLICATIONS/COMPLAINTS IN GEORGIAN WATER SUPPLY SECTOR

    Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission reported that 968 applications/complaints were received in 2021 regarding contentious issues in the water supply sector. If compared with 2020, the number has increased by 38%.


    24 OBJECTS IN IMERETI WITH TOTAL VALUE OF OVER 43M LARI WERE PUT UP FOR ELECTRONIC AUCTION

    Georgian National State Property Agency declared that 43 objects in Imereti region with a total value of over 43 million lari have been brought to electronic auction.

    The largest lot is a former Kutaisi cannery, estimated at 10.06 million lari.
