    GEORGIAN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS TO BE HELD ON DECEMBER 14

    Georgian Parliament appointed next presidential election of the country at December 14, while the inauguration is scheduled for December 29. The Parliament adopted the decision with 80 votes pro today.

    SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR, YIELD ON GEORGIAN GOVERNMENT’S BONDS INCREASED

    The yield on US dollar-denominated 10-year bonds, placed by the Georgian government on the London Stock Exchange, as of September made up 6.5%, the National Bank of Georgia reported. In October, the rate made up 6.8%.


    AS OF END OF SEPTEMBER, LOANS OF GEORGIAN BANKS INCREASED BY 20.8% Y-O-Y, DEPOSITS – BY 16.9%

    As of September 30, loans issued by Georgian banks totaled to 59.4 billion lari, the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported. If compared to the same period of 2023, the volume has increased by 20.8%, NBG noted.


    IN 2023, 24.4% OF GEORGIA-REGISTERED ENTERPRISES WERE ACTIVE

    In 2023, there were 921,450 business enterprises registered in Georgia (year-on-year growth – 7.4%), Sakstat reported. At that, number of active enterprises made up 224,538, or 24.4% of the total (against of 23.4% in 2022).


    BATUMI BUDGET FOR 2025 INCREASED BY 31% COMPARED TO 2024

    Batumi's budget for 2025 amounts to 500 million lari, exceeding by 118 million lari (by 31%) the initial budget for 2024, the Batumi City Hall reported. Batumi Sakrebulo (city council) approved the city budget for 2025 on November 25.


    ZUGDIDI TO HOST STARTUP INVESTMENT FORUM

    On December 6-8, Zugdidi will host the Startup Investment Forum for the first time, Georgian Agency for Innovation and Technology reported. The event is initiated by the Zugdidi Technopark and will be held by organization of the Georgian Angel Investors Network.

    IN SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER, PRICE PER SHARE OF “BOG GROUP” AND “TBC BANK GROUP” ON THE LONDON EXCHANGE DECREASED

    In September, average price per share of BOG Group (group of Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia)) on the London Stock Exchange amounted to 40.4 GBP, in October – 39.3 GBP, the National Bank of Georgia reported.

    In January, the price made up 38.5 GBP, then it grew and reached an annual peak in April – 50.6 GBP, after which the downward trend was mainly observed.


    GEORGIAN COMPETITION AGENCY FINED AGAIN “RUSTAVI CAR MARKETPLACE” AND “MIKADO GEORGIA” FOR INCOMPLETE REPORTING

    Georgian Competition and Consumer Protection Agency reported about an investigation, being underway into the possible abuse of dominant position by LLC Rustavi Car Marketplace and LLC Mikado Georgia. The investigation was launched following a joint complaint of auto importers.
