MUNICIPAL TRANSPORT WON’T OPERATE THROUGHOUT GEORGIA ON MAY 3-12
Georgian government decided today to suspend operation of municipal transport throughout the country from May 3 through May 12. Operation of intercity transport will not be stopped.

IN Q1, TRANSACTIONS BY RESIDENT ISSUERS’ PAYMENT CARDS INCREASED IN VOLUME BY 16.9% Y-O-Y
National Bank of Georgia reported that volume of transactions by resident issuers’ payment cards totaled as of March 31 to 9.3 billion lari. If compared with the same period of 2020, the volume has increased by 16.9%.
IN Q1, VOLUME OF ATM TRANSACTIONS BY RESIDENT ISSUERS’ CARDS INSIDE THE COUNTRY INCREASED BY 10.8% Y-O-Y, OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY – BY 2.4%
National Bank of Georgia reported that in total volume of transactions by resident issuers’ cards, conducted in the 1st quarter inside the country (8.65 billion lari), ATMs accounted for 63.3%, or 5.5 billion lari. If compared with the same period of 2020, the volume has increased by 10.8%.
ECONOMY MINISTER: WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE STATE PROGRAM “100 INVESTMENT PROPOSALS FOR BUSINESS”, NEXT AUCTION WILL BE ANNOUNCED THIS WEEK
Natia Turnava, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, announced that next auction will be announced this week within the framework of the state program “100 Investment Proposals for Business”. While declaring this after the government meeting today, she specified that up to 150 lots will be auctioned this time.
STATE PROGRAM OF RENEWAL TO BE IMPLEMENTED IN 63 MUNICIPALITIES
Georgian government will implement a state program in 63 municipalities, which aims at urban renewal, rehabilitation of cultural and historical sites and administrative centers, and development of recreational spaces. Cost of the first stage of the program makes up 500 million lari.

GOVERNMENT: MORATORIUM ON CONSTRUCTION OF “NAMOKHVANHES” DAM HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED FOR 9-12 MONTHS, ONLY PREPARATORY WORKS WILL CONTINUE
Georgian government decided to announce moratorium on construction of the NamokhvanHES dam for a period of 9-12 months, until revision and re-justification of respective environmental, geological and seismological studies. The project investor, Turkish company ENKA will be able only continue the preparatory infrastructure works of the first stage of the project under the construction permit, the government pointed.
ECONOMY MINISTRY: PROCEDURE OF NEW INVESTOR SELECTION FOR ANAKLIA PORT PROJECT WILL START UNTIL END OF THE YEAR
Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that procedure of selection of new investor for construction of deep-water port in Anaklia on the Black Sea shore will be launched until end of this year. The Ministry noted that this procedure will be carried out in accordance with the procedure, established by Georgian legislation on public-private partnership.
ECONOMY MINISTRY: WITHIN FRAMEWORK OF THE STATE PROGRAM “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA”, 2.15M LARI WILL BE INVESTED IN THE NEW ENTERPRISE
Within the framework of the state program “Produce in Georgia”, 2.15 million lari will be invested in the project of the enterprise, producing fiberglass and basalt fiber reinforcement, reported Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. The project will be implemented by LLC Ajamura.
IN 2020, PROFIT OF INSURANCE COMPANY “ARDI” REDUCED 3.1 TIMES
Insurance company Ardi reported net profit of 241,945 lari for 2020. If compared with 2019, the volume has decreased 3.1 times.
