SOCIAL JUSTICE CENTER: GEORGIAN AUTHORITIES DID NOT ADOPTED YET A STRATEGY DOCUMENT ON OCCUPATION OF CONFLICT REGIONS
Social Justice Center indicated that the Georgian authorities have not adopted yet a strategy document on occupation and annexation by Russia of conflict regions of the country (Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region). In regard of the peace policy, the Georgian authorities still use the document, adopted in 2010, which is outdated and less relevant, the organization pointed.

HEAD OF GEORGIAN RESORTS DEVELOPMENT AGENCY IS APPOINTED

AS OF JULY 1, GEORGIA’S RATIO OF DEPOSITS TO GDP DECREASED BY 6.1 PP Y-O-Y, OF LOANS – BY 6.6 PP
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) released estimation, according to which ratio of deposits, placed in Georgian commercial banks as of July 1, to the country’s GDP made up 57.4%. The ratio made up 58.8% a quarter ago and 63.5% a year ago (respectively, decreased in the reporting period of 1.4 percentage points (pp) and 6.1 pp).
IN Q2, PROFIT OF GEORGIAN COMMERCIAL BANKS DECREASED BY 34.7% Y-O-Y
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that in the 2nd quarter, net profit of Georgian banks totaled to 422.58 million lari. If compared with the same period of last year, the volume has decreased by 34.7%.

“SUN PETROLEUM GEORGIA” PLANS EXPANSION
Sun Petroleum Georgia, running chain of Gulf filling stations, plans to lease 32 stations from 23 economic agents, Georgian National Competition Agency reported. In connection with the planned concentration, the Agency has launched administrative proceedings.
“HUALING” EXPANDS KUTAISI FREE INDUSTRIAL ZONE
Georgian government made a decision to expand area of the Kutaisi free industrial zone “by several hectares”. The corresponding agreement was signed between Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and the Chinese Hualing, investor of the zone.
ISRAELI “ARKIA” TO OPERATE FLIGHTS BETWEEN EILAT AND BATUMI IN AUGUST
During the period of August 7-29, the Israeli airline Arkia will operate charter flights between Eilat (Israel) and Batumi (Georgia). The airline will fly 2 times a week, on Mondays and Fridays.
