GEORGIA SWITCHED ALL CUSTOMS CHECKPOINTS TO A SPECIAL OPERATION MODE
In the conditions of increased traffic in the region, all customs checkpoints of Georgia have been switched to a special operation mode, Georgian Revenue Service declared. At that, number of customs officers at checkpoints has been increased, the Service noted.
GEORGIA AND UAE STARTED NEGOTIATIONS ON FREE TRADE AGREEMENT
Negotiations on free trade agreement have started between Georgia and the UAE, reported Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. The Ministry noted that the parties made corresponding decision as far as December 2020.

SWITZERLAND AND JAPAN ARE EXPECTED TO BECOME GEORGIA’S FIRST PARTNERS IN CARBON UNITS TRADE
Switzerland and Japan will probably become Georgia’s first partners in trade with carbon units, reported Georgian office of the UN Development Program (UNDP). Georgia signed respective bilateral agreements with these countries in 2021 and 2022.
REHABILITATION OF KHALVASHI STREET IN BATUMI TO COST 19.4M LARI
Rehabilitation of Pridon Khalvashi Street (part of a road of national importance) is being carried out in Batumi, Georgian Roads Department reported. The Department noted that the project cost makes up 19.4 million lari.

IN TBILISI, FACT OF UNFAIR COMPETITION IN TOURISM SERVICES SECTOR WAS REVEALED
Georgian National Competition Agency reported that the fact of unfair competition in the tourism services sector has been confirmed. The matter concerns the litigation of 2 companies, engaged in city tours for tourists in Tbilisi.
AS OF JUNE 30, PROFIT OF “TBC BANK” DECREASED BY 11% Y-O-Y
TBC Bank reported net profit of 430.6 million lari for the 2nd quarter. If compared with the same period of 2021, the volume has decreased by 11%.
AS OF JUNE 30, PROFIT OF “SAKARTVELOS BANKI” DECREASED BY 15.2% Y-O-Y
Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) reported net profit of 368.7 million lari for the 2nd quarter. If compared with the same period of 2021, the volume has decreased by 15.2%.
