    “TBC CAPITAL”: FEBRUARY DYNAMICS OF FOREX MARKET INDICATE EXCESS SUPPLY OF US DOLLAR

    The dynamics of Georgian forex market in February indicates generally excess supply of the US dollar, TBC Capital indicates in a weekly review published today.

    According to the review, the conclusion is based on purchase by the National Bank of Georgia of $78 million in February.


    GEORGIAN GOVERNMENT APPROVED CLIMATE CHANGE ACTION PLAN FOR 2024-2025

    At the meeting on March 27, the Georgian government approved the national action plan on climate change for 2024-2025.

    The planned measures cover 7 areas of the country’s economy: electricity generation and transmission, transport, buildings, industry, agriculture, waste management, forestry.


    GEORGIAN DEPUTY MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE: OVER 10 YEARS, INVESTMENTS IN AGRICULTURE HAVE EXCEEDED 7.64B LARI

    “For more than 10 years, we have been implementing various support programs, under which the total investment in agriculture exceeded 7.64 billion lari”, declared Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Tengiz Nasaridze. Of this amount, government co-financing amounted to almost 2.04 billion lari, he noted.


    GEORGIAN COMMUNICATION COMMISSION: ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEEDINGS LAUNCHED FOR COMPETITION IMPROVEMENT ON MOBILE MARKET

    In order to improve competition and quality of service on the mobile services market, public administrative proceeding was launched based on a comprehensive study, Georgian National Communication Commission declared.

    “The proceeding aims to establish whether there is a low-competitive environment on Georgian mobile market”, the Commission said.


    SHUTTLE BUSES TO CARRY PASSENGERS FROM KUTAISI AIRPORT TO THE CITY CENTER

    Today, 3 shuttle buses were launched at Kutaisi airport, which carry passengers to the city center and back, reported state-owned LLC Georgian Airports Association, which runs the airport.

    According to LLC, traffic schedule of these municipal buses will be adjusted with a flight schedule, while one-way fare will make up 5 lari.

    IN 2023, GEORGIAN POPULATION CONTINUED DECREASE

    In 2023, natural decrease of the population (the difference between numbers of live births and deaths) was recorded in Georgia, which amounted to -2,542, Sakstat reported. If compared to 2022 (-6.799), the decline indicator decreased 2.7 times.


    GEORGIAN PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE INDICTED 2 PERSONS IN SO-CALLED CALL CENTER CASE

    Georgian prosecutor’s office reported today about indictment of 2 persons because of transnational crime, fraudulent seizure of large amount of money by an organized group through the so-called call center. The punishment provides for imprisonment from 7 to 10 years.


    NBG TO ISSUE COLLECTIBLE COIN IN HONOR OF GEORGIAN NATIONAL TEAM’S PARTICIPATION IN EUROPEAN FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

    “In honor of the historical victory of the Georgian national football team and participation in the European Championship 2024”, a collectible coin will be issued, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) declared. Design of the new coin will be developed by NBG jointly with Georgian Football Federation.
