AS OF JULY 1, 83.6% OF FOREIGN CURRENCY DEPOSITS IN GEORGIAN BANKS WERE PLACED IN US DOLLARS
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that in total deposits, placed as of July 1 in Georgian banks in foreign currency (equivalent of 23.5 billion lari), 83.6%, or equivalent of 19.6 billion lari, are denominated in the US dollars.
A quarter ago, the share of deposits in US dollars made up 82.3%, while a year ago – 83.5%.
IN 6 MONTHS, DEMAND FOR TREASURY BONDS EXCEEDED EMISSION 2.2 TIMES
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that in January-June, 14 auctions were held on treasury bonds (maturity – 576-3,015 days), demand for which totaled to 2.13 billion lari.
The announced emission totaled to 950 million lari (respectively, demand exceeded emission 2.2 times).
IN 6 MONTHS, DEMAND FOR TREASURY BILLS EXCEEDED EMISSION 2.4 TIMES
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that in January-June, 12 auctions were held on treasury bills (maturity – 182 and 364 days), demand for which totaled to 571.5 million lari.
The declared emission made up 240 million lari (respectively, demand exceeded emission 2.4 times).
AS OF JUNE 30, GEORGIAN TREASURY SECURITIES HELD BY NON-RESIDENTS DECREASED IN VOLUME BY 44.3% Y-O-Y, WHILE ONES HELD BY RESIDENTS – INCREASED 2.9 TIMES
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that in total volume of treasury securities, issued as of June 30 in national currency (nominal value – 5.8 billion lari), commercial banks of the country held 63.5%, or 3.7 billion lari. If compared with the same period of 2021, the volume has increased by 12.1%.
OUT OF 29 OBJECTS, PRIVATIZED UNDER STATE PROGRAM “50 OBJECTS FOR YOUR HOTEL”, ONLY 5 ONES ARE COMPLETED
Waste Detector (media project of non-governmental organization Governance Monitoring Center (GMC)) reported that in total, 29 objects were privatized so far within the framework of the state program “50 Objects for Your Hotel”, launched in 2016. Out of them, only 5 ones have been completed for now, the organization said.
REHABILITATION OF PSHAVELI-ABANO-OMALO ROAD TO COST ABOUT 100M LARI
Georgian Roads Department reported about launch of a project, aiming improvement of traffic safety on the 72-km Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo motor road (Kakheti region).
The Department said that estimated cost of the project makes up 100 million lari.
RIGHT OF METALLURGICAL ACTIVITY OF LLC “AMBICON STEELS” HAS BEEN SUSPENDED
Environmental Supervision Department of Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture declared about suspension of the right of metallurgical activity to LLC Ambicon Steels (metallurgical enterprise). Prior to that, the Department reported about fining of the company.
“MAGTICOM” REJECTED “MAGTIFIX” LICENSE
Following request of MagtiCom, the operator’s license for MagtiFix services (fixed CDMA phone) has been canceled, Georgian National Communication Commission reported. According to the operator, there is not a single active MagtiFix subscriber listed today, the Commission said.
