FOREIGN MINISTRIES OF GEORGIA AND FRANCE HOLDING THE NEXT ROUND OF CONSULTATIONS

The 3^rd round of consultations between the French and Georgian Foreign Ministries has started in Paris today. The First Deputy Minister Giorgi Burduli represents the Georgian side on the negotiations.




JOHN-MALKHAZ SHALIKASHVILI IS GOING TO VISIT GEORGIA IN MID JUNE

The former head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is going to visit the family estate and participate in the opening ceremony of the reconstructed family church. This church, built by Shalikashvili’s grand father, was destroyed by Bolsheviks in 1921.

According to him, this question will be considered during the forthcoming Georgian-Russian negotiations on the military issues in June.

7 PEOPLE DIED IN THE MINI-BUS ACCIDENT

SUKHUMI AND NOVIY AFON RENAMING PROJECT BEING CONSIDERED IN ABKHAZIA

According to the Sukhumi semi-official newspaper Respublika Abkhazia, the professor of the Sukhumi State University Daur Marshan-dabad offers to rename Sukhumi as Amra and Noviy Afon as Amza. In his project, presented to the President of the self-proclaimed Republic of Abkhazia, Marshan-dabad points out that new Abkhaz names (“Amra” – the sun, “Amza” – the moon) are shorter ones and consequently alteration of signs will require less funds.
