    TBILISI MAYOR: WE DO NOT PROHIBIT PRIVATE CARS, BUT WE WANT TO PROMOTE DEVELOPMENT OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT

    “We do not prohibit and we cannot prohibit private cars”, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze declared. “We want to promote development of public transport, to manage to refuse gradually own cars and to give a priority to public transport”, he said at the capital government meeting today.

    PENSION AGENCY COMPLETELY TRANSFERRED THE SUM, ACCUMULATED IN NBG, TO COMMERCIAL BANKS

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that Georgian Pension Agency completely transferred the sum, accumulated in NBG, to commercial banks.

    The sum, placed by the Agency on accounts in NBG, totaled as of June 1 to 69.9 million lari.


    AS OF JUNE 30, DEPOSITS OF LEGAL ENTITIES PLACED IN LARI INCREASED BY 17.4% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that deposits of legal entities, placed in Georgian banks in lari, totaled as of June 30 to 7.18 billion lari. The volume has increased by 18.4% quarter-on-quarter and by 17.4% year-on-year.


    AS OF JUNE 30, DEPOSITS OF LEGAL ENTITIES PLACED IN FOREIGN CURRENCY INCREASED BY 12.2% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that deposits of legal entities, placed in Georgian banks in foreign currency, totaled as of June 30 to equivalent of 6.7 billion lari. The volume has decreased by 9.1% quarter-on-quarter, but increased by 12.2% year-on-year.


    AS OF JUNE 30, RETAIL DEPOSITS PLACED IN LARI INCREASED BY 16.2% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that deposits of private individuals, placed in Georgian banks in lari, totaled as of June 30 to 4.01 billion lari. The volume has increased by 7.6% quarter-on-quarter and by 16.2% year-on-year.


    AS OF JUNE 30, RETAIL DEPOSITS PLACED IN FOREIGN CURRENCY INCREASED BY 15.5% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that deposits of private individuals, placed in Georgian banks in foreign currency, totaled as of June 30 to equivalent of 11.76 billion lari. The volume has decreased by 5% quarter-on-quarter, but increased by 15.5% year-on-year.


    AS OF JUNE 30, MORTGAGE CREDITS ISSUED IN LARI INCREASED BY 26.1% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that mortgage credits, issued by Georgian banks in lari, totaled as of June 30 to 6.8 billion lari. The volume has increased by 0.1% quarter-on-quarter and by 26.1% year-on-year.


    AS OF JUNE 30, MORTGAGE CREDITS ISSUED IN FOREIGN CURRENCY INCREASED BY 23.4% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that mortgage credits, issued by Georgian banks in foreign currency, totaled as of June 30 to equivalent of 14.3 billion lari. The volume has decreased by 4.1% quarter-on-quarter, but increased by 23.4% year-on-year.


    ECONOMY MINISTER: THROUGH FINANCING OF EBRD, ELECTRICITY TRANSMISSION NETWORK OVER 150 KM LONG WILL BE BUILT IN GEORGIA

    Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava declared that under agreement, signed with EBRD, new electricity transmission network, having length over 150 km, and corresponding substations will be built in the country. For that end, EBRD will allocate 90 million EUR to Georgia.


    DISASTER RELIEF IS UNDERWAY IN RACHA REGION

    Rioni River and its tributaries, which flooded banks as a result of heavy rain, have damaged in Racha region 10 bridges, washed away central motor road in 8 places, as well as several sites of Oni-Shovi road and local roads, administration of Georgian government reported.

    According to the administration, 12 pieces of machinery are mobilized in a disaster zone and, in case of need, 5 units of heavy machinery will join the relief works.


    TBILISI MAYOR: MORE 55 FAMILIES, AFFECTED BY INCOMPLETE COOPERATIVE HOUSE-BUILDING, WILL BE SATISFIED WITH APARTMENTS

    Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze declared that more 55 families, which were affected by incomplete cooperative house-building, will be satisfied with apartments.

    The Mayor said this at the capital government meeting today and noted that in total, 3,500 families were affected since 1990-ies.
