    GEORGIAN PREMIER: AS A RESULT OF OUR REASONABLE POLICY, PEACE AND STABILITY HAVE BEEN PRESERVED IN THE COUNTRY AND WE WILL UNITE THE COUNTRY WITH THE SAME REASONABLE POLICY

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili declared that after the outbreak of Russia-Ukraine war, “the Georgian authorities managed to avoid the greatest danger – the war”, despite of “lots of attempts, provocations and direct appeals”.

    “As a result of our reasonable policy, peace and stability have been preserved in the country and we will unite our country with the same reasonable policy”, the Premier told journalists today, noting that currently, “entire Abkhazia and Samachablo are temporarily occupied by Russia”.


    US DEPARTMENT OF STATE: NBG AND GEORGIAN FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS ACT IN FULL ACCORDANCE WITH FINANCIAL SANCTIONS IMPOSED ON RUSSIA

    “National Bank of Georgia (NBG) and Georgian financial institutions act fully in accordance with the financial sanctions imposed by the United States and others on the Russian Federation”, says a new report prepared by the US Department of State.

    “Compliance with international financial sanctions is systematically checked during on-site inspections of financial institutions”, the document notes.


    GEORGIA WILL STRENGTHEN COOPERATION WITH THE AMERICAN SIDE IN ENERGY SECTOR

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported about signing of memorandum of understanding with the US Agency for International Development (USAID), which aims to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector. The memorandum, signed today, covers 4 strategic goals, the Ministry noted.


    GEORGIA IS CONSIDERING JOINING SEPA

    The issue of Georgia’s accession to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) was considered at a working meeting in the Georgian Parliament on July 28. The meeting was attended by representatives of National Bank of Georgia (NBG) and Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.

    IN JUNE, GEORGIA’S REAL GDP GROWTH MADE UP 7.2%

    Sakstat released estimation, according to which Georgia’s real GDP growth in June made up 7.2%, compared with the same period of last year. The average growth rate for the first 6 months of this year made up 10.5%.


    IN 6 MONTHS, NUMBER OF CONSTRUCTION PERMITS ISSUED IN GEORGIA INCREASED BY 15.6% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat reported that, according to officially declared data, 5,086 construction permits were issued countrywide in January-June. If compared with the same period of 2021, the number has increased by 15.6%.


    IN 2021, HOSPITAL BED STOCK IN GEORGIA INCREASED BY 11%

    Sakstat reported that in 2021, there were 268 clinics in Georgia, increasing in number by 4 compared with 2020. Hospital bed stock totaled to 20,600, increasing by 11% year-on-year.


    IN 2021, REVENUES OF GEORGIAN MARKETPLACES INCREASED BY 15.2%

    Sakstat reported that in 2021, revenues of the country’s marketplaces totaled to 147.3 million lari. If compared with 2020, the volume has increased by 15.2%.
