IN 2022, NUMBER OF CONSTRUCTION PERMITS ISSUED IN GEORGIA INCREASED BY 7.2% AND PLANNED CONSTRUCTION AREA DECREASED BY 0.2%
Sakstat reported that there were 10,822 permits issued in Georgian construction sector in 2022, which number has increased by 7.2% compared with 2021.
Permits were issued for construction area of 7.42 million square m (year-on-year decrease – 0.2%).
IN 2023, POWER PLANTS WITH TOTAL CAPACITY OF 105 MW ARE PLANNED TO COMMENCE IN GEORGIA
Power plants with total capacity of 105 MW will be put in operation in 2023, the Georgian government declared. As the government noted, this is the highest indicator of commenced capacity in recent years.
WITHIN INTERNETIZATION PROJECT, FULL COVERAGE OF WESTERN GEORGIA’S TARGET AREAS IS PLANNED IN 2023
Within the internetization project, “full coverage of the target geographical areas of western Georgia” is planned in 2023, the Georgian government declared. From 2024, construction will be continued in eastern Georgia.
IN 2023, IT IS PLANNED TO CARRY OUT WORKS FOR GAS INSTALLATION IN UP TO 150 VILLAGES
In 2023, it is planned to carry out the works, necessary for gas installation in up to 150 villages, the Georgian government said. According to the plan, over 26,000 households will be given the opportunity to get a natural gas.
NBG: PREPARATORY STAGE OF DIGITAL LARI PROJECT IS NEARING ITS END
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) declared that the deadline for expressing interest by international and local fintech companies and financial institutions to cooperate within the digital lari project expires on February 15.
Thus, NBG concludes the 1st (preparatory) stage of the project of introduction of the Central Bank’s Digital Currency (CBDC), announced on April 30, 2021.
REHABILITATION WORKS OF 47M LARI ARE PLANNED AT KUTAISI AIRPORT
The Georgian government announced about rehabilitation works, planned to conduct at Kutaisi airport in 2023, which total budget will amount to 47 million lari.
Within the project, designing of a new 3.5 km runway will be completed.
