    GEORGIA AND KOREA COMPLETED FEASIBILITY STUDY OF FREE TRADE AGREEMENT

    Today, Georgia and Korea signed in Seoul a declaration on completion of a feasibility study of free trade agreement.

    According to the study, the free trade agreement between Georgia and Korea is feasible and can bring significant benefits, declared Georgian Ministry of Economy of and Sustainable Development.

    IN OCTOBER, GEORGIA’S REAL GDP GROWTH MADE UP 8.3%

    Sakstat released estimation, according to which Georgia’s real GDP growth in October, if compared with the same month of last year, made up 8.3%. Average growth rate for 10 months of this year made up 10%.


    NBG: COUNTERCYCLICAL BUFFER IS LEFT INTACT AT THE MOMENT, BUT CHANGES ARE PLANNED

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that its Financial Stability Committee decided today to leave the countercyclical buffer intact – at the level of 0%.

    The Committee indicated importance of capital buffers’ accumulation by the financial sector during high economic growth for use in stressful periods.


    GEORGIA INTRODUCED NEW E-BOND SOLUTION FOR REPO MARKET

    Georgia became the first country, which adopted a new and improved e-bond solution for repo operations, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) declared.

    Through this platform of Bloomberg, local market participants will be able to carry out repo operations using modern technologies, NBG said.


    GEORGIAN BANKS WILL BE ABLE TO ISSUE MORTGAGE BONDS

    On November 29, the Georgian Parliament approved in third (final) hearing (by 74 votes “pro”) the draft law “On Mortgage-Secured Bonds”. The main part of the document will enter in force on the 90th day after publication.


    TBILISI MAYOR: RENEWAL OF BUS FLEET WILL CONTINUE IN 2023

    Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze declared that process of the bus fleet renewal will continue in 2023. “In 2023, we will purchase 200 units of 18-meter buses, while the process will be completed in 2023-2024”, he said.

    GEORGIA CONSIDERS POSSIBILITY OF COOPERATION WITH “BINANCE”

    Today, Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Changpeng Zhao, aka CZ, founder and chief executive of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance.

    At the meeting, Georgia’s positioning as a hub of modern financial technologies was emphasized and readiness for future cooperation was expressed, administration of the Georgian government reported.


    DIRECT FLIGHTS ARE PLANNED BETWEEN TEL AVIV AND KUTAISI

    Launch of flights between Tel Aviv and Kutaisi from 2023 is being considered, reported state-owned LLC Georgian Airports Association, which operates Kutaisi airport.

    To this end, Tamar Archvadze, director of the LLC, met in Israel with the management of the Israeli flag carrier EL AL Israel Airlines and its subsidiary brand Sun D’Or International Airlines, being used mainly for seasonal flights (regular and charter) mostly to European destinations.
