    GEORGIA SPREADS IMMUNIZATION AGAINST COVID-19 TO RESIDENTS OF RUSSIA-OCCUPIED TERRITORIES

    Medical workers and people of appropriate age group, living in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region (occupied by Russia), will be able to join the program of immunization against COVID-19, reported administration of Georgian government. Vaccination of these people will be carried out on the territory controlled by the official Tbilisi.

    IN 2020, GEORGIA’S TOTAL FOREIGN DEBT MADE UP 127.7% OF GDP

    As of December 31, 2020, Georgia’s total foreign debt amounted to $20.3 billion, making up thus 127.7% of GDP for 2020, reported National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

    To compare: as of December 31, 2019, the debt amounted to $18.6 billion, making up 105.1% of GDP for 2019.


    IN 2020, GEORGIA’S NET INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT POSITION MADE UP -156.3% OF ANNUAL GDP

    As of December 31, 2020, Georgia’s net international investment position corresponded to negative 156.3% of annual GDP of the country, reported National Bank of Georgia. To compare: as of December 31, 2019, this showing made up negative 134.2%.


    GEORGIAN PREMIER: AT THE END OF MAY, WE WANT TO PRESENT CONCRETE PLAN OF 10-YEAR DEVELOPMENT

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili declared that the government is going to present “concrete plan of 10-year development, according to every sector” at the end of May. He said this today at the presentation of expansion of the state project “100 Investment Proposals for Business”.


    USAID TO SUPPORT PREPARATION BY GEORGIAN COMPETITION AGENCY OF ORGANIZATIONAL AND COMMUNICATION STRATEGY

    Georgian National Competition Agency and the USAID-funded Human and Institutional Capacity Development (HICD) project have agreed on cooperation. The corresponding memorandum was signed on March 29.


    ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION AND AGRICULTURE MINISTRY: NEW PROGRAM WILL START IN 2022 WITH SUPPORT OF SWITZERLAND

    Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture said that Swiss government is going to approve new program of regional cooperation in this July. Implementation of the program is scheduled for 2022-2025, while its annual budget will make up $10 million, the Ministry noted.

    GEORGIAN PREMIER: “NAMOKHVANHES” IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT PROJECT FOR OUR ENERGY INDEPENDENCE

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili declared that “NamokhvanHES is an extremely important project and hydroelectric power plant for our energy independence”. He told this to journalists on March 29, after visiting Georgia’s largest hydroelectric power plant EngurHES, which is shut down for rehabilitation.
