    GEORGIA ADVANCED IN “DOING BUSINESS” RATING

    Georgian government reported that the country has advanced in “Doing Business” rating of the World Bank (WB) for 2019 by 3 positions and occupies the 6th place among 190 countries. The country’s score makes up 83.28 points (out of possible 100), being improved by 0.48 points.

    NBG MAINTAINS FORECAST OF REAL GDP GROWTH FOR 2018

    In its monetary policy report, published today, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) said that it maintains its forecast of Georgia’s real GDP growth for 2018 at the level of 5.5%. According to the report, forecast for 2019 makes up 5%.


    NBG FORECAST: ANNUAL INFLATION WILL REMAIN CLOSE TO TARGET

    According to the forecast of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) expects that annual inflation both in 2018 and in medium-term period will remain close to target indicator.

    In its monetary policy report, published today, NBG says that pressure toward growth of prices in the next year will be provided generally by one-time factors again.


    NBG FORECAST: RATIO OF CURRENT ACCOUNT’S NEGATIVE BALANCE TO GDP WILL REMAIN SINGLE-DIGIT OVER A YEAR

    According to both short- and medium-term forecasts of National Bank of Georgia (NBG), ratio of negative balance of international payments to GDP will remain single-digit over a year.

    In its monetary policy report, published today, NBG points that the forecasts will prove themselves in assumption of stable situation’s maintenance in Georgia’s trade partner countries and continued tendency of moderate growth of export revenues and other income from abroad.


    ECONOMY MINISTER: WE START THE PROJECT, WITHIN WHICH MORE INVESTMENTS WILL BE ATTRACTED FROM OECD COUNTRIES

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported about meeting of the Minister Giorgi Kobulia with head of Eurasia department of Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) William Thompson.

    After the meeting, Georgian Minister declared that a project will be launched with OECD, within which “they will study in our country an environment, related to foreign direct investments, and will assist in attraction of noticeably more investments from the OECD countries”.


    ABOUT 40 GEORGIAN AND FOREIGN DESIGNERS TO TAKE PART IN “MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK” IN TBILISI

    On November 1-5, Tbilisi will host the next Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, which will held in the Fine Arts Museum. The organizers promise that their spring and summer collections will be presented by up to 40 Georgian and foreign designers.

    NEW MEDICAL BUILDING OF MENTAL HEALTH CENTER OPENED IN KHONI

    Georgian Agency for Property Management reported that about opening of new medical building of Naneishvili National Center of Mental Health in Kutiri village of Khoni municipality (Imereti region). The building, conforming to European standards, has area of 2,400 square m and is designed for 100 patients, the Agency said.


    ROMANIAN “TAROM AIRLINES” MADE ITS FIRST DIRECT FLIGHT TO TBILISI

    Romanian national carrier Tarom Airlines conducted its first direct flight on Bucharest-Tbilisi-Bucharest route, reported TAV Georgia (operator of Tbilisi airport).

    As TAV Georgia noted, the airline is going to conduct during a winter season such flights twice a week (on Wednesdays and Sundays) by Boeing 737.
