    COUNCIL FOR GEORGIA-TURKEY STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP TO HOLD MEETING IN NEAR FUTURE

    Georgian government declared that council for Georgia-Turkey strategic partnership will hold a meeting in near future.

    The government noted that respective agreement was reached within visit to Turkey of Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, at his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

    ANNUAL GDP GROWTH FOR 9 MONTHS MADE UP 5%

    Sakstat published estimation, according to which Georgia’s average real GDP growth for 9 months of this year made up 5%. At that, real growth in the 3rd quarter made up 5.7%, while in September – 5.2%.


    NBG FORECAST: GDP GROWTH IN 2019-2020 WILL MAKE UP 4.5%

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) says that estimation of average GDP growth for 8 months, making up 5%, coincides with the existing forecast. Therefore, NBG maintains its forecast of GDP growth for 2019-2020 as making up 4.5%.


    NBG FORECAST: INFLATION IN THE NEXT THREE QUARTERS WILL REMAIN ABOVE THE TARGET

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) expects that inflation in the country will remain in the next three quarters above the target (3%). Afterwards, after a phase of stage-by-stage decrease, inflation in the medium-term period will approach the target indicator from below, NBG forecasts.


    IN JANUARY-SEPTEMBER, NUMBER OF CONSTRUCTION PERMITS INCREASED BY 1.3% Y-O-Y

    In January-September of this year, 7,802 permissions were issued in the country, increasing in number by 1.3% year-on-year, Sakstat reported. These permissions were issued for total construction area of 5.62 million square m (year-on-year growth – 23.9%), Georgian statistics service specified.


    IN Q3, DOMESTIC TRANSACTIONS ON RESIDENT ISSUERS’ PLASTIC CARDS INCREASED BY 26.9% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that volume of domestic transactions on Georgian resident issuers’ plastic cards totaled in the 3rd quarter to 7.1 billion lari. The volume has increased by 11.3% quarter-on-quarter and by 26.9% year-on-year.


    IN Q3, FOREIGN TRANSACTIONS ON GEORGIAN ISSUERS’ PLASTIC CARDS INCREASED BY 40.7% Y-O-Y

    National Bank of Georgia reported that volume of foreign transactions on Georgian resident issuers’ plastic cards totaled in the 3rd quarter to 644.68 million lari. The volume has increased by 17.3% quarter-on-quarter and by 40.7% year-on-year.


    ISSUES OF SUSTAINED FINANCING DISCUSSED IN TBILISI

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported about conference on sustained financing, which was held today in Tbilisi, being organized in cooperation with International Finance Corporation (IFC, member of the World Bank Group) and Sustainable Banking Network (SBN).

    As NBG noted, the conference paid special attention to disclosure of environmental, social and administrative issues.


    IN 2018, INCOME OF POSTAL AND EXPRESS MAIL ENTERPRISES TOTALED TO 95.8M LARI

    Referring to conducted research, Sakstat said that income of Georgian enterprises, engaged in postal and express mail activities, made totaled in 2018 to 95.8 million lari.

    Out of total, share of international postal and express mail services made up 77%, while remained part was share of domestic services, Georgian statistics service specified.
