GEORGIAN GDP IN FEBRUARY REDUCED BY 5.1%
Sakstat reported that Georgia’s real GDP reduction in February made up 5.1%. In January, the country’s economy shrank by 11.5%, respectively, average reduction rate for January-February makes up 8.3%.
IN 2020, LABOR COMPENSATION IN GEORGIA DECREASED BY 4.1%
Sakstat reported that wages (salaries), issued as in 2020, totaled to 15.6 billion lari. If compared with 2019, the volume has decreased by 4.1%.
IN 2020, GEORGIA RECORDED NEGATIVE NATURAL INCREASE
Sakstat reported that in 2020, Georgia recorded negative natural increase (difference between live-borns and deceased), which made up 4,017 people. In 2019, positive natural increase made up 1,637 people.
WITHIN THE STATE PROGRAM “100 INVESTMENT PROPOSALS FOR BUSINESS”, MORE THAN 150 OBJECTS WORTH UP TO 350M LARI WERE PRESENTED
Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development announced that within the framework of the state program “100 Investment Proposals for Business”, 115 real estate objects worth up to 92 million lari and 47 licenses for fossil usage worth 3.5 million lari were sold in total.
At this stage, 50 various deposit fields were added to the program, and list of property, subjected to privatization, was expanded, the Ministry pointed.
ECONOMY MINISTER AND USAID MISSION DIRECTOR DISCUSSED ENERGY SECURITY ISSUES
Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava and director of USAID mission in Georgia Peter Wiebler held a meeting today.
As the Ministry said, parties paid special attention to the energy sector, reforms ongoing there, situation on electric power market and challenges connected with the country’s energy security.
DEPUTY MINISTER OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND AGRICULTURE: BY 2020, AGENCY FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT SHOULD BECOME A PAYER
Giorgi Khanishvili, Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, declared that by 2024, when the country will apply for the EU membership, “Agency for Rural Development should be transformed into payer agency”.
Khanishvili noted that transformation of the Agency started in 2019 and continued in 2020.
