    TABULA: “TIKARADZE: WE CARRIED OUT SYSTEM CHANGE – WE CREATED AGENCY ON ASSISTANCE TO EMPLOYMENT”

    February 6, 2020 - Since January 1, 2020, the Agency on Assistance to Employment, subordinated to the Ministry of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection, started operation in Georgia.

    While appearing in the Parliament, the Minister Ekaterina Tikaradze called creation of the Agency “system change”, Tabula reports.

    February 6, 2020 - While appeared in the Parliament, Georgia’s Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection Ekaterina Tikaradze declared that “The state places serious emphasis on issue of temporal legal employment abroad”.

    According to Tikaradze, dialogue with the EU and other countries is underway in this regard, Tabula reports.


    REZONANSI: “THE GOVERNMENT ADMITS THAT CHILDREN STARVE, BUT STILL PUTS A GOOD FACE ON THE MATTER”

    February 6, 2020 - According to the latest data of UNICEF (2018), 77,000 children in Georgia are starving, while 300 children annually die from hunger.

    The subject became topical after statement about children’s hunger, made by leader of public movement Lelo for Georgia Mamuka Khazaradze, the newspaper says.

    February 5, 2020 - Pro-Russian businessman Mikhail Khubutia, chairman of Union of Georgians in Russia, buys lands in Kakheti, in the village of Napareuli of Telavi municipality, Tabula reports.

    According to Khubutia, he buys lands for own money.

    February 4, 2020 - Next court hearing on the case of Mamuka Khazaradze, Badri Japaridze (founders of Georgia’s largest TBC Bank) and Avtandil Tsereteli (founder of Samgori Group) was held on February 3, Netgazeti.Ge reports.

    As the hearing, 7 witnesses for the prosecution were interrogated, some of whom in 2008 (when the challenged banking operations were held) had worked in National Bank of Georgia (NBG), while some – in TBC Bank.

    February 3, 2020 - Georgian government prolonged contract with American lobbyist company Chartwell Strategy Group, Netgazeti.Ge reports. The document was signed on January 27 this year.

    February 4, 2020 - Maya Melikidze, member of Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission, indicates that there are over 100 hydroelectric stations in the country now, and “this direction develops quickly enough, especially generation of renewable energy, wind and solar energy”.

    According to Melikidze, “We are very often addressed regarding licenses on construction of hydroelectric stations up to 13 MW, as they are deregulated” (i.e. the state can sign an agreement directly).

    February 4, 2020 - In 2018, at Varketili station of Tbilisi subway, where repair works were conducted by LLC Kvarelmsheni (Kvareli Builder), the ceiling collapsed, injuring 14 people, the newspaper reminds.

    In 2015, the company was put in so-called “black list” because of non-fulfillment of obligations, assumed under the contract.

    TABULA: “TURNAVA: KUTAISI AIRPORT WILL BE CONNECTED WITH KOPITNARI RAILWAY STATION”

    February 7, 2020 - Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava reported that the country’s government approved the project, which envisages connection of Kutaisi airport (Kopitnari) with the railroad.

    According to the project, the railway station, located in 1.5 km from the airport, will be restored and special shuttles will run to the airport, Tabula reports.


    REZONANSI: “FIGHT FOR THE STATE SUBSIDIES – SITUATION IN BIG-TIME AVIATION ESCALATED”

    February 5, 2020 - Georgian carrier Georgian Airways (AirZena) has stopped flights to a number of destinations, the newspaper reports.

    Roman Bokeria, director general of AirZena, claims that this decision was caused by losses, suffered because of Russia ban on direct air communication with Georgia, which made up to $26 million.

    BANKEBI DA FINANSEBI: “GERMANY SINCE MARCH 1 WILL START EMPLOYMENT OF GEORGIAN CITIZENS”

    February 7, 2020 - Since March 1, Georgian citizens will be allowed to work legally in Germany, the newspaper reports with reference to German embassy in Georgia.

    Obtaining temporary residence permit (6 months) requires consent of German Federal Employment Agency, the article notes.

    NETGAZETI.GE: “AFTER ENACTMENT OF RESOLUTION #520, NUMBER OF CORRESPONDING MEDICAL SERVICES DECREASED BY 4.8% – THE MINISTER”

    February 6, 2020 - Ekaterina Tikaradze, Georgia’s Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection, declared that after enactment of the resolution #520 (November 21, 2019, introduces unified tariffs for clinics, involved in the state program of universal healthcare), number of corresponding medical services has decreased by 4.8%.

    Tikaradze assures that analysis of data on cardiological interventions, obtained from clinics, has established that clinics demanded payment for more services, than was really provided, Netgazeti.Ge reports.

    BANKEBI DA FINANSEBI: “SINCE TODAY, NEW TECHNICAL REGULATION ON POULTRY MEAT ENTERS IN FORCE”

    February 3, 2020 - Technical regulation “On Approval of Marketing Requirements for Poultry Meat” has entered in Georgia in force on February 1, the newspaper reports.

    According to the regulation, marketing of frozen and quick-frozen poultry meat will be possible until 2025, if water content does not exceed 5%.

    FORBES GEORGIA: “IN KVARELI, CONSTRUCTION OF “WINE VILLAGE” IS UNDERWAY”

    February 5, 2020 - In Kvareli (Kakheti region), construction of 50 houses is planned, which will have own vineyards on area of 400-500 square m, the magazine reports.

    The article notes that “wine village” in Kvareli is the first project for 7S company, registered in 2019.
