    TABULA: “55% OF POPULATION DID NOT HEAR ABOUT MAMUKA BAKHTADZE”

    June 15, 2018 - Referring to survey of the International Republican Institute (IRI), Tabula reports that acting finance minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, nominated by the parliamentary majority of Georgian Dream (on June 14) as candidate for the prime minister’s post (after Giorgi Kvirikashvili’s resignation on June 13), “has the lowest indicator of recognizability”.

    The article indicates that according to the survey, 55% of the population is not aware at all, who Mamuka Bakhtadze is.


    NETGAZETI.GE: “4 PRINCIPLES OF MAMUKA BAKHTADZE’S POLITICAL VISION”

    June 15, 2018 - The candidate for the prime minister’s post Mamuka Bakhtadze declares that his vision will be based on the following principles – accomplish of the Georgian people’s historical choice that means full integration of Georgia into Euro-Atlantic space, implementation of fundamental and innovative reforms in the necessary directions, concept of the small government and investment into education, Netgazeti.Ge reports.

    “As a result of these reforms we will create new economic model, with new fair rules of the game, which will concern every Georgian family, every our citizen”, Bakhtadze declares.


    LIBERALI: “TALAKVADZE: FINANCING OF “NATIONAL MOVEMENT” IN 2012 WAS NOT DECISION OF BAKHTADZE”

    June 15, 2018 - Leader of the parliamentary majority of Georgian Dream Archil Talakvadze declared to journalists that financing of United National Movement (UNM) in August 2012 was not decision of Mamuka Bakhtadze, Liberali reports.

    After resignation of Giorgi Kvirikashvili from the prime minister’s post on June 13, the parliamentary majority nominated Bakhtadze (who was the Finance Minister then) as the candidate on June 14.

    June 14, 2018 - David Usupashvili, former leader of Republicans and current leader of Building Movement, points that “in current situation, the country, but not Dream [ruling Georgian Dream party] itself, needs the stable government”.

    Usupashvili declared this in air of TV company Pirveli, while commenting on resignation of Giorgi Kvirikashvili from the prime minister’s post on June 13.


    NETGAZETI.GE: ““CHANNEL ONE” AND “RUSTAVI-2”: POST OF THE PRIME MINISTER WILL BE HELD BY MAMUKA BAKHTADZE”

    June 14, 2018 - Referring to Rustavi-2 and Public Broadcaster (Channel One), Netgazeti.Ge reports that post of the prime minister will be held by acting finance minister Mamuka Bakhtadze. The article notes that both TV channels declared this with reference to own sources.


    LIBERALI: “SOZAR SUBARI: THERE WERE DIFFERING OPINIONS ON THE POLICY, RELATED TO BANKS”

    June 14, 2018 - Sozar Subari, acting minister of IDPs from occupied territories, resettlement and refugees, said that at the meeting of ruling Georgian Dream on June 12, there was really no discussion of governmental changes, but there was quite sharp consideration of certain issues. Subari declared this in talk show of Public Broadcaster.


    REZONANSI: “IT WILL BE LOGICAL, IF THIS RESIGNATION IS FOLLOWED BY EARLY ELECTIONS”

    June 14, 2018 - After resignation of Giorgi Kvirikashvili from the prime minister’s post on June 13, probable candidates for this post are already named – Giorgi Gakharia (now, the acting interior minister), Mamuka Bakhtadze (the acting finance minister) and Maia Tskitishvili (the acting minister of regional development and infrastructure).

    At the special news briefing yesterday, Kvirikashvili declared that disagreements in ruling team generally concerned the economic policy, pursued by him, the newspaper reminds and concludes that if opposition with team and Bidzina Ivanishvili (billionaire leader of ruling Georgian Dream) is related with heavy socio-economic situation in the country, then it turns out that political responsibility for failure has to be assigned to ministers of economic team too.


    NETGAZETI.GE: “LEVAN KOBERIDZE: NOBODY DISCUSSED RESIGNATION, WE CONSIDERED THE UNICEF SURVEY”

    June 13, 2018 - Majority MP Levan Koberidze declares that during 3-hour consultations at the office of Georgian Dream, party members discussed the survey of UNICEF, released on June 12.

    “Our team discussed what had to be done in economy in order to achieve as soon as possible the economic growth and the population wellbeing”, Koberidze stated to journalists and added: “There was no discussion on the governmental changes at today’s meeting”.


    TABULA: “AFTER THE MAJORITY MEETING, TALAKVADZE FAILS TO SPEAK IN DETAILS ABOUT THE UNICEF SURVEY”

    June 13, 2018 - After completion of the parliamentary majority meeting, held in the office of ruling Georgian Dream, the majority leader Archil Talakvadze declared that they considered only the resent survey of UNICEF and there was no speech about government changes, Tabula reports.

    However, answering to request of Rustavi-2 TV company’s reporter to name concrete data from that survey, Talakvadze has limited himself with general answer only, Tabula points.

    June 13, 2018 - On June 12, opening of Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) will held in the Turkish city of Eskisehir, where Georgia will be represented neither by the President, nor by the Prime Minister or the Minister of Economy, Tabula reports. Georgia will be represented by the ambassador only.

    June 11, 2018 - In 2017, turnover of Georgian gambling business amounted to 5.65 billion lari, exceeding by almost 1.6 billion lari turnover of unspecialized retail shops.

    In the reporting year, turnover of fuel market made up 2.34 billion lari, while turnover of accommodation and catering market – 1.56 billion lari.

    At that, the article says that director of QNet Georgia is Iase Zautashvili, son-in-law of Eka Beselia.

    June 12, 2018 - In the 1st quarter, foreign direct investments in Georgia amounted to $279.3 million, reducing year-on-year by 32.9%.

    The magazine publishes list of 20 top investors, specifying that the companies are not ranked according to their investments’ volumes.

    FORBES GEORGIA: “SECTORAL ALLIANCE”

    June 11, 2018 - In terms of its income from tourism – $2.8 billion (6.9% of GDP), Georgia occupies the 26th place among 185 countries.

    In 2017, the 3.7-million country was visited by 4.1 million tourists, while number of international visitors (i.e. including those, who stayed in the country for less than 24 hours) made up 7.9 million.
