    BANKEBI DA FINANSEBI: “LAVROV NAMED CONDITIONS FOR AIR COMMUNICATION BETWEEN RUSSIA AND GEORGIA”

    July 18, 2019 - Russia can restore air communication with Georgia (cancelled on July 8) in case, if Georgian authorities ensure stability and safety of Russian citizens in the country, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov declared in an interview to Arguments and Facts.

    As Lavrov noted, radical political forces “inflame Russophobic sentiments in Georgia” that damages, first of all, Georgia and its citizens.


    REZONANSI: “IVANISHVILI’S FIRST MESSAGES ON 27TH DAY AFTER THE JUNE EVENTS”

    July 18, 2019 - Bidzina Ivanishvili, billionaire chairman of ruling Georgian Dream, confirmed that the Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia will not go anywhere and that preservation of this minister is very important for him, the newspaper says.

    “Gakharia is even tougher person”, than Irakli Kobakhidze (ex-speaker of the Parliament), and his resignation “would be high treason today”, Ivanishvili declared to journalists.

    July 18, 2019 - Bidzina Ivanishvili, billionaire chairman of ruling Georgian Dream declared to journalists in connection with oppositional United National Movement (UNM): “Hey, look, what happened with them because of Panorama, I implement unique, unprofitable project in Tbilisi “.

    According to Ivanishvili, UNM and “non-governmental organizations under their management” want “to suspend construction in Georgia, they want to destroy the country”.

    July 18, 2019 - While commenting on project action of June 20, billionaire chairman of a ruling Georgian Dream Bidzina Ivanishvili declared to journalists that appearance of Russian deputy Sergey Gavrilov in a chair of the speaker of Georgian Parliament was a mistake: “It was s protocolary mistake”.

    “It was followed by absolutely objective public indignation”, while oppositional United National Movement “managed to agitate this situation”, Ivanishvili pointed.

    July 17, 2019 - Referring to TI Georgia (Georgian branch of Transparency International), Tabula reports that Georgian Wrestling Federation transferred during the last 4 years

    1.6 million lari to a hotel, which is owned by sister of Leri Khabelov, MP from ruling Georgian Dream and former wrestler.

    According to TI Georgia, in December 2017 and January 2018, president of the Federation Gega Gegeshidze got bonuses of 40,000 lari, while chief of administration and one more employee – of about 27,000 lari.


    FORBES GEORGIA: “TRANSFORMING TOBACCO IN A REGULATED ENVIRONMENT”

    July 17, 2019 - Tobacco industry, which generates 10% of Georgian state budget’s revenues, is “the most taxed and regulated” today, the magazine says.

    The magazine spoke about issues of the tobacco industry with director general of British American Tobacco (BAT) in the Caucasus and Moldova Felicio Ferraz and director for legal and foreign affairs of the company Zviad Skhvitaridze.

    July 15, 2019 - Property declaration of deputy chief State Security Service (SSS) Shengeli Pitskhelauri, published on July 8, indicates that he owns $245,000 in cash, Netgazeti.Ge reports.

    As source of this money, dividends from ownership of 12% in Guram Tavartkiladze Educational University are indicated.


    KVIRIS PALITRA: “WITHIN 30 YEARS, RUSSIA INFLICTED TO GEORGIA DAMAGE OF $400B”

    July 15, 2019 - “As soon, our political positions are not pleasant” to Moscow, Russia threatens Georgia with market closing, the newspaper says.

    According to Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava, losses, which could be inflicted to Georgia in case of introduction of economic sanctions by Russia, would exceed now 4 billion lari.

    July 17, 2019 - Anaklia Echowaves, electronic music festival in Anaklia, will be financed with 2.56 million lari from the budget, the newspaper reports. The festival will be held on August 22-25.

    July 16, 2019 - In terms of wine export’s growth in 2000-2016, Georgia was on the 5th place in the world, the magazine reports, referring to data of the American Association of Wine Economists (AAWE). For the mentioned period, cumulative growth of Georgian wine export made up 291%.

    July 16, 2019 - Georgia’s First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Gela Khanishvili declares that “program against marmorated stink bug [the pest, Halyomorpha halys] is successfully implemented in 2019”. “The marmorated stink bug is completely turned under control”, he assures, pointing that “the works, conducted in the last year, were of great importance, resulting in appearance of less marmorated stink bugs this year”.
