    April 21, 2022 - In the report of the American organization Freedom House, the indicator of democracy in Georgia decreased from 3.18 to 3.07 points. The report (on a scale from 1 to 7) evaluates 29 Asian and European countries in transition.


    NETGAZETI.GE: “INVESTIGATION STARTED ON AUDIT FINDINGS IN KUTAISI – SHUSHANIA”

    April 20, 2022 - Georgian State Audit Service has prepared an audit conclusion on activities of Kutaisi municipality, covering the period 2019-2020.

    After publication of the report, Gigi Shushania, chairman of National Movement faction in Kutaisi Sakrebulo (city council), appealed to the prosecutor’s office.

    TABULA: “ITALY, RUSSIA, THE US – THE COUNTRIES, FROM WHICH THE MOST REMITTANCES ARRIVED IN MARCH”

    April 18, 2022 - National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that in March, the EU countries accounted for 44.61% of total volume of remittances to the country ($193.1 million). Those include Italy with $36.5 million (18.9% of total), Greece – $18.95 million (9.8%), Germany – $11.31 million (5.9%), Spain – $4.69 million (2.4%).

    REZONANSI: “DESPITE HIGH PRICE, IMPORT AND CONSUMPTION OF FUEL IN GEORGIA ARE GROWING”

    April 19, 2022 - Georgian Oil-Products Importers Union reported that in January-March, import of petrol and diesel fuel to Georgia amounted to 257,200 t, increasing by 1.7% in comparison with the same period of 2021.

    Vano Mtvralashvili, head of the Union, says that despite record growth of price since the beginning of the year, import and consumption in the country have not decreased.

    BANKEBI DA FINANSEBI: ““SOFT MOTION” – “SAP” GOLDEN PARTNER IN GEORGIA”

    April 21, 2022 - Technology company Soft Motion has become the golden partner of the SAP software system in Georgia, the newspaper reported. As the article notes, SAP is used by up to 440,000 private and governmental agencies in more than 180 countries.


    FORBES GEORGIA: “NEW INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM ON DIGITAL LOGISTICS AND LOGISTICS PROSPECTS OF GEORGIA”

    April 21, 2022 - In cooperation with the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau (Germany), Caucasian University has introduced a new master’s program on digital logistics, the magazine reported.

    The University has received also funding, which will be used for equipment of a logistics laboratory.


    FORBES GEORGIA: “CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS OF HOW MANY MILLIONS OF LARI ARE PRODUCED IN GEORGIA?”

    April 19, 2022 - Georgian construction sector and related fields create almost 9% of Georgia’s GDP and employ over 100,000 people, the magazine reports. During the pandemic, turnover of the sector decreased by 8%, but in 2021, along with revival of the real estate market, the growth rate of this sector also recovered.

    April 18, 2022 - Vasil Khodeli, who has held the CEO position in Liberty Bank since 2019, will leave the post in May, the magazine reports. A new CEO of the bank will become Beka Gogichaishvili.

    FORBES GEORGIA: “SUPSA – OIL PORT ON PAPER AND LOST REVENUES”

    April 19, 2022 - Since its launch (1999), the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline transported 700 million barrels of crude oil as of November 2021, the magazine reports. In total, 1,000 tankers have been loaded as of November 30, 2021.

    BANKEBI DA FINANSEBI: ““UNDERWATER TRANSMISSION CABLE WILL ALLOW US TO SUPPLY GREEN ENERGY TO THE EU””

    April 20, 2022 - Feasibility of construction of a high-voltage transmission cable and fiber-optic cable along the bed of the Black Sea will be studied, the newspaper reports with reference to the World Bank (WB). The WB will fund the study, which was ordered by Georgian State Electrosystem.

    REZONANSI: “PROBABLE DATE OF THE EPIDEMIC’S END – ONLY 340 INFECTED REMAIN IN HOSPITALS AND POSITIVITY IS BELOW 1%”

    April 18, 2022 - Amiran Gamkrelidze, head of Georgian National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, thinks that this year, the World Health Organization (WHO) will announce end of the pandemic. Although, WHO maintains cautious approach to this issue, he noted.

    BANKEBI DA FINANSEBI: ““A LARGE NUMBER OF MILLS HAVE BEEN STOPPED – WHEAT STOCKS HAVE BEEN REDUCED TO A CERTAIN EXTENT””

    April 20, 2022 - Levan Silagava, executive director of Georgian Wheat and Flour Producers Association, declared that big part of mills in the country is stopped. Among large mills, about 4 ones continue work, he noted.
