1. THE GOVERNMENT EXPECTS ECONOMIC GROWTH OF 5% FOR NEXT YEAR
Economics

Draft state budget-2014 envisages that rate of economic growth will make up 5%, while inflation – 3.5%. Moreover, while presenting the draft in the Parliament yesterday, Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri stressed that the World Bank considers economic growth rate to reach in the next year at least 6%.

2. NEXT YEAR’S ASSIGNMENTS OF AGRICULTURE MINISTRY TO GROW BY 20%
Economics

Draft state budget-2014 envisages allocation of 290 million lari to Agriculture Ministry. This volume exceeds respective showing of 2013 by 49 million lari (i.e. by 20%).

3. GENERAL CENSUS TO COST 18M LARI
Economics

Sakstat told Sarke that total cost of general census of population makes up 18 million lari. Today, preparatory works have started in Tbilisi.

4. FISCAL COMMITTEE CONSIDERS PREMATURE TO CHANGE FOOD BASKET
Economics

Fiscal Committee of the Parliament considers that change of food basket’s calorie value is premature at this stage.

The change was initiated by voters, while respective amendments to law “On Calculation of Living Wage” were drafted by Christian-Democratic Movement, whose representative Levan Vepkhvadze presented the draft to the Committee yesterday.

5. USAID TO SUPPORT WORKING OUT A MODEL OF HYDROPOWER MARKET
Economics

Today, Energy Ministry presented hydropower and energy planning project (HPEP). HPEP is USAID’s next project after Hydropower Investment Promotion Project (HIPP).

6. GIZ TO ASSIST GEORGIA IN PUBLIC FINANCE MANAGEMENT
Economics

Today, chairman of the Parliament’s Fiscal Committee David Onoprishvili signed a memorandum of understanding with German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). As he said, implementation of project, which concerns public finance management, will start in Georgia in next year.

7. FORENSIC LAB LAUNCHED AT TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY
Society

Education and Science Ministry informed that Georgian Technical University launched a forensic lab. Allocation for that end made up 70,000 lari.

8. “BOSCH” REPRESENTATIVE IN CIS AND GEORGIA: THE COMPANY HAS QUITE SIGNIFICANT GROWTH IN GEORGIA
Business

Gerhard Pfeifer, Bosch representative in CIS and Georgia, declared that despite economic slowdown, the company has quite significant growth in Georgia. However, he refrained to forecast results of this year, noting that annual report will be published in next May.

9. “RMG COPPER” PURCHASED 30 TRUCKS FROM “VOLVO TRUCKS”
Business

RMG Copper (former JSC Madneuli) reported that company purchased 30 trucks from Volvo Trucks, which were solemnly delivered today on RMG Copper’s territory in Kazreti (Bolnisi district, Kvemo Kartli region). In this transaction, Volvo is represented by Premier Motors company.

10. “SAKARTVELOS BANKI” TO GET LOAN OF $10M FROM “CITIGROUP” AND “OPIC”
Business

Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) signed an agreement with Citigroup and the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) regarding allocation of $10 million.

As Sakartvelos Banki said, the loan is the first one, being jointly allotted for Georgian microcrediting by Citigroup and OPIC.

11. BATUMI BRANCH OF TURKISH “ISBANK” STILL REMAINS UNPROFITABLE
Business

Batumi branch of Turkish Isbank reported losses of 273,489 lari for the 3rd quarter. This volume increased 2.7 times year-on-year, but decreased by 22.5% quarter-on-quarter.
