Finance Ministry reported that as of December 31, 2017, Georgia’s public foreign debt amounted to $5.18 billion. If compared with 2016, the volume grew by 14.7%.

Finance Ministry reported that as of December 31, 2017, domestic public debt amounted to 2.86 billion lari (so-called historical debt is not considered). If compared with 2016, the volume has increased by 14.6%.

BATUMI TO HOST ENERGY INVESTMENT FORUM OF CAREC IN SEPTEMBER

On September 11-12, Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) plans to hold energy investment forum in Batumi, the government of Ajara announced. Preparation of the forum, as well as pilot investment projects were considered at the meeting with representatives of Asian Development Bank (ADB), which was held today in administration of Ajara government.

NEW REGULATIONS TO BE PREPARED ON LABOR SAFETY IN CONSTRUCTION SPHERE

In connection with labor safety in construction sphere, new regulation will be prepared by initiative of Tbilisi Mayor, the Parliament declared. Amendments are planned to make to already drafted legislative package “On Labor Safety”.

THE GOVERNMENT: POSSIBILITY OF MOVE OF ENTERPRISES FROM ISRAEL TO GEORGIA IS CONSIDERED

Possibility of enterprises’ move from Israel to Georgia, in particular, to Anaklia (where free economic zone is planned to create nearby deep-water port, which construction is underway for now) is considered, Georgia government declared. The subject was considered at the meeting in Tbilisi by president of Israel’s Manufacturers Association Shraga Brosh and Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili today.

ECONOMY MINISTRY: WB DELEGATION BECAME INTERESTED IN SITUATION WITH BLOKCHAIN TECHNOLOGIES IN GEORGIA

Delegation of the World Bank (WB) became interested in current situation with blokchain technologies and their prospects in Georgia, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared. The delegation of the WB, headed by the Bank’s chief economist in Europe and Central Asia Hans Timmer, considered the subject with Georgia’s Minister Dimitri Kumsishvili at the meeting in Tbilisi today.

THE SPEAKER: ALL THE MAJORITY MPS WILL SUPPORT OVERCOMING THE VETO ON DRAFT BILL “ON BROADCASTING”

Speaker of the Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze declared that the majority will overcome veto, imposed by the President on the draft bill “On Broadcasting”. “This issue will not be put on free voting that means that all MPs will support overcoming the veto”, the speaker declared after meeting of the majority today.

“FITCH” AFFIRMED “BB-” RATING TO “GWP”

Fitch Ratings declared about affirmation of “BB-” rating to GWP (Tbilisi water and sewerage company), outlook – “stable”. Georgian company has been rated since 2015.
