1. NATIA TURNAVA BECAME ECONOMY MINISTER
Politics

Giorgi Kobulia is discharged from the post of Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development and is replaced with his deputy Natia Turnava. Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze signed the respective order yesterday evening.

2. PRIME MINISTER: AVLABAR RESIDENCE WILL HAVE FUNCTION OF PUBLIC AND MUSEUM SPACE
Politics

Avlabar Residence (President Palace, built under Mikheil Saakashvili) will have function of public and museum space, where all citizens of Georgia and all tourists, who arrived to Georgia, will be able to come and to get acquainted with our national treasure, Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared.

Bakhtadze pointed that “this building was built with money of Georgian citizens, money of payers, and it has to have public function”.

3. IN JANUARY-MARCH, GEORGIA’S TRADE WITH EU COUNTRIES DECREASED BY 14.9% Y-O-Y

Sakstat reported that Georgia’s trade with EU countries in January-March amounted to $698.1 million. If compared with the same period of 2018, turnover has decreased by 14.9%.

Sakstat reported that Georgia’s trade with CIS countries in January-March amounted to $992.2 million. If compared with the same period of 2018, turnover has increased by 2.4%.

5. IN JANUARY-MARCH, COPPER ORE AND CONCENTRATES WERE STILL IN THE LEAD IN GEORGIA’S EXPORT

Sakstat released estimation, according to which Georgia’s export of copper ore and concentrates amounted in January-March to $135.6 million. If compared with the same period of 2018, the volume has increased by 14.1%.

6. IN JANUARY-MARCH, OIL-PRODUCTS ACCOUNTED FOR 7.6% OF GEORGIA’S TOTAL IMPORT

Sakstat released estimation, according to which Georgia’s import of oil and oil-products amounted in January-March to $150.4 million. If compared with the same period of 2018, the volume has decreased by 19.5%.

7. IN 2018, PROPERTY INSURANCE PREMIUM INCREASED BY 17.9%

Georgian State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that premium, attracted in 2018 in property insurance, totaled to 85 million lari.

The volume has increased by 17.9% year-on-year and made this kind of insurance accounting for 15.7% of total premium, attracted by Georgian insurance companies in the reporting year.

8. IN 2018, CARGO INSURANCE PREMIUM INCREASED BY 43.3%

Georgian State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that premium, attracted in 2018 in cargo insurance, totaled to 8.87 million lari.

The volume has increased by 43.3% year-on-year and made this kind of insurance accounting for 1.6% of total premium, attracted by Georgian insurance companies in the reporting year.

9. IN 2018, TRAVEL INSURANCE PREMIUM INCREASED BY 3%

Georgian State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that premium, attracted in 2018 in travel insurance, totaled to 7.74 million lari.

The volume has increased by 3% year-on-year and made this kind of insurance accounting for 1.4% of total premium, attracted by Georgian insurance companies in the reporting year.

10. GREEK “ELLINAIR” RESUMES SEASONAL FLIGHTS TO TBILISI
Business

Georgian Airports Association declared that Greek carrier Ellinair resumes seasonal flights to Tbilisi. Since May, flights to Tbilisi will be conducted from Thessaloniki and the island of Crete.
