1. IN NOVEMBER, GEORGIA’S ANNUAL INFLATION MADE UP 10.4%

Sakstat reported that in November, annual inflation in Georgia made up 10.4% (against of 3% target). Monthly inflation (i.e. compared with the previous month, October) made up 0.5%.

2. GEORGIAN REVENUE SERVICE: BIG PART OF IMPORT FROM CZECH REPUBLIC WAS INTENDED FOR BAKU-TBILISI-CEYHAN PIPELINE AND COMPANIES “ENERGOPRO GEORGIA” AND “EP GEORGIA GENERATION”

In a statement, released today, Georgian Revenue Service indicated that big part of increased showings of Georgia’s commodity import from the Czech Republic is composed of equipment, brought to the country by companies servicing the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, as well as goods, intended for EnergoPro Georgia and EP Georgia Generation (both companies are established with Czech participation).

The Service said that import includes also “mobile phones, computers and other items of primary use, imported by other companies and intended for domestic consumption, rather than for re-export to other countries”.

3. “SKYTRAX” PRESIDENT GOT ACQUAINTED WITH WORK OF TBILISI AIRPORT
Business

Edward Plaisted, president of the British aviation consulting company Skytrax, has visited Tbilisi airport, reported TAV Georgia (operator of Tbilisi and Batumi airports). Purpose of the visit is an annual assessment of services and quality.

4. IN 2021, PROFIT OF “TAV URBAN GEORGIA” INCREASED 4.4 TIMES, OF “BATUMI AIRPORT” – 610 TIMES

In 2021, LLC TAV Urban Georgia (operator of Tbilisi airport) had profit of 75.49 million lari. If compared with 2020, the volume has increased 4.4 times.

5. GEORGIAN SIDE DISCUSSED COOPERATION WITH TURKISH “SANKO HOLDING”
Business

On December 1, Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met in Tbilisi with Zeki Konukoglu, honorary president of the Turkish Sanko Holding.

As administration of the Georgian government reported, the parties discussed investment potential of Georgia and prospects of future cooperation.

6. USAID ENERGY FUTURE PROGRAM WILL PROVIDE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO “GRPC”
Business

A cooperation agreement was signed in Tbilisi today between the USAID Securing Georgia’s Energy Future Program and Georgian Renewable Energy Company (GRPC).

Under the agreement, the USAID program will provide GRPC with technical and advisory assistance for implementation of the pilot project.

7. NBG CANCELLED REGISTRATION OF 2 PAYMENT SERVICE PROVIDERS

National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported about cancelation of registration of payment service providers LLC GeoMoney and LLC Smart Payment Systems. Process of liquidation was launched in both companies.

8. GEORGIAN PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE REVEALED ANOTHER FACT OF A TRANSNATIONAL CRIME
Society

Georgian Prosecutor’s Office declared today about reveal of another fact of a transnational crime and absentia launch of criminal prosecution against a foreign citizen, who is charged of money laundering. The penalty envisages imprisonment for a period of 9 to 12 years.
