1. “SAKSTAT”: IN 2021, BOTH ABSOLUTE AND RELATIVE POVERTY RATES DECREASED IN GEORGIA
Economics

Sakstat reported that in 2021, Georgia’s rate of absolute poverty (share of the population living below the poverty line) made up 17.5%. If compared with 2020, the indicator has decreased by 3.8 percentage points (pp), Georgian statistics service said.

2. “SAKSTAT”: IN 2021, GINI COEFFICIENT IN TOTAL INCOME DID NOT CHANGE, IN CONSUMER EXPENSES – DECREASED

Sakstat reported that in 2021, Georgia’s Gini coefficient, calculated according to total income (cumulative monetary and non-monetary income), did not change and made up 0.37.

Gini coefficient, calculated according to total money only (monetary income, transfers and other funds), did not change too and made up 0.39 (against 0.42), Georgian statistics service indicated.

3. IN Q1, NUMBER OF TRIPS ABROAD BY GEORGIAN RESIDENTS INCREASED 4.2 TIMES Y-O-Y
Economics

Sakstat reported that number of trips abroad, made by Georgian residents (persons of any age, who move between geographical areas with any duration and purpose) in the 1st quarter, made up 261,400. If compared with the same period of 2021, the number has increased 4.2 times.

4. GEORGIAN PREMIER: REPRESENTATIVE OF DIASPORA SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET GEORGIAN PASSPORT EASILY

“We will remove all artificial barriers so as to enable diaspora representatives to get Georgian passports easily”, declared Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. He said this today, while speaking at a forum “Georgian Diaspora for Georgia’s European Future”, dedicated to the Diaspora Day.

5. IDFI: OUT OF 18 NORMATIVE ACTS, QUALITY OF PUBLIC-PRIVATE DIALOGUE UPON PREPARATION OF 7 WAS HIGH, IN CASE OF 10 – AVERAGE, IN CASE OF 1 – LOW

Report, prepared by the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI), says that out of 18 normative acts, prepared in the period from January 2020 to September 2021, quality of public-private dialogue was high in case of 7. In this term, the law “On Entrepreneurs” received the highest estimation.

6. MINISTER: FOR ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT, 303 PROJECTS WORTH 6.5B LARI WERE IMPLEMENTED IN GEORGIA IN 2021

Irakli Karseladze, Georgia’s Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, reported that 303 projects worth 6.5 billion lari were implemented in Georgia in 2021 as part of the road infrastructure development. In these projects, 97 companies took part, including 88 Georgian and 9 foreign ones, he specified.

7. MINISTER: BY THE END OF 2030, 100% OF GEORGIA’S POPULATION WILL HAVE 24-HOUR WATER SUPPLY
Economics

Irakli Karseladze, Georgia’s Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, declared that by the end of 2030, 100% of the country’s population will have 24-hour water supply.

The Minister noted that over 1 million people in the coverage area of Georgian United Water Supply Company will have 24-hour water supply by the end of 2025.

8. MINISTER: BY 2030, ALL EXISTING OLD LANDFILLS IN GEORGIA WILL BE PHASED OUT
Economics

Irakli Karseladze, Georgia’s Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, declared that by 2030, all existing old landfills in the country will be phased out, and 6 new regional centers will be built. In the next 10 years, over 613 million lari will be allocated for that end, the Minister said.
