1. MINISTER OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND AGRICULTURE: THERE IS NO PROBLEM IN CONNECTION WITH WHEAT STOCKS AND PURCHASES

“In connection with stocks and purchases of wheat, there is no problem in the country, interruptions will not occur”, Georgia’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili declared.

“In general, there is excessive wheat harvest in the world and especially in the region.

2. PASSENGER TRAFFIC IN GEORGIAN AIR SECTOR DECREASED FOR JANUARY-MARCH BY 30% Y-O-Y
Economics

Georgian Airports Association reported that airports of the country served in total 710,143 passengers for the first 3 months of this year. According to the Association, this is by 30% less than indicator of the same period of 2019.

3. RETURN OF GEORGIAN CITIZENS FROM ABROAD CONTINUES
Politics

Administration of Georgian government declared that following decision of interdepartmental coordination council, created under Premier Minister for fight against COVID-19 pandemic, return of Georgian citizens from abroad continues.

For that end, at the meeting today, the council decided to add 2 more flights: on April 24 – from Barcelona, on April 27 – from Warsaw.

4. EBRD ALLOCATED “SOLIDARITY PACKAGE” TO 38 COUNTRIES, INCLUDING GEORGIA
Economics

EBRD declared about allocation of “solidarity package” of 1 billion EUR “to help companies across its regions deal with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic”. Share of Georgia in that package is not specified.

5. ECONOMY MINISTRY: WE WORK ON PLAN OF RECOVERY AND STIMULATION OF POST-CRISIS ECONOMY
Economics

Following assignment of Georgian Prime Minister, we work on plan of recovery and stimulation of economy during the post-crisis period, the country’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava declared today. That will give us an opportunity “to be able to re-launch our economy afresh” from the very first moment, as soon as the main danger passes, she noted.

6. CHECK OF OBSERVANCE BY COMPANIES OF RESTRICTIONS, SET WITHIN STATE OF EMERGENCY, AND THE HEALTHCARE MINISTRY’S RECOMMENDATIONS BEGINS
Economics

Administration of Georgian government declared about start of active check of observance by Georgian enterprises of restrictions, set within 1-month state of emergency (introduced on March 21), and recommendations of the Healthcare Ministry. It is planned to conduct checking of about 50 entities daily.

7. READINESS OF PRIMARY HEALTHCARE SYSTEM IS EXAMINED
Politics

Administration of Georgian government reported that interdepartmental coordination council, created because of COVID-19 pandemic, acquainted today with information on readiness of primary healthcare system of the country.

As the administration noted, the monitoring group, headed by chairman of the Parliament’s Committee on Healthcare and Social Issues Dmitry Khundadze, carried out inspection of corresponding objects during the last 2 days.

8. ACCORDING TO THE LATEST DATA, 22.8M LARI ARE MOBILIZED TO “STOPCOV” FUND
Economics

According to the latest data, 22.8 million lari are mobilized to StopCoV fund, created by Georgian government for private donation on fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

At that, the largest donation was made by telecom operator MagtiCom – 3 million lari.

9. IN 2 WEEKS, 6 GEORGIAN ENTERPRISES MADE 1M MEDICAL MASKS
Business

Administration of Georgian government reported that during 2 weeks, 6 enterprises of the country already made 1 million medical masks. The administration marked out Ajara Textile among them, stressing that this company employs 3,200 people.
