1. NEXT ROUND OF THE US-GEORGIA DIALOGUE ON TRADE AND INVESTMENT TO TAKE PLACE IN APRIL
Politics

The next round of high-level trade and investment dialogue (HLTID) between the US and Georgia will take place in April, in the US, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.

According to Deputy Minister Gennady Arveladze, the meeting within HLTID will be held at the level of Georgian First Deputy Premier (Dimitri Kumsishvili) and the US Trade Representative (Robert Lighthizer).

2. “TI GEORGIA”: GIFTS, RECEIVED BY OFFICIALS, DEMAND ADDITIONAL STUDY
Politics

TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International, declared that gifts, received by officials, demand additional study. Namely, Bureau of Public Service has to become interested in origin of property/income and to investigate capacity of this or that official’s family members to give him/her such gifts, the organization pointed.

3. THE EU-GEORGIA BUSINESS COUNCIL INITIATED DISCUSSION IN TBILISI ON SITUATION WITH BUSINESS DISPUTES
Politics

Within cooperation with Georgian Supreme Court, the EU-Georgia Business Council initiated the conference “Business Disputes and Court Practice”, which held in Tbilisi on March 6.

The conference of such format, when representatives of judicial authority and business have met, was held in Georgia for the first time, the organizers pointed.

4. TOURISM ADMINISTRATION PRESENTED GEORGIA’S POTENTIAL OF BUSINESS TOURISM TO SAUDI COMPANIES
Economics

Conventional and exhibition bureau of National Tourist Administration had presented Georgia’s tourist capacity in the city of Jeddah of Saudi Arabia, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.

As the Ministry noted, the presentation was attended by representatives of 40 travel agencies of Saudi Arabia.

5. SERGI GVARJALADZE TO HEAD THE PROJECT ON TBILISI’S NIGHT ECONOMY CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
Politics

At today’s meeting of the capital government, Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze presented the head of the project on working out of the concept of development of the city’s night economy. “The project will be headed by the well familiar to all TV producer, musician and skilled manager Sergi Gvarjaladze”, he declared.

6. TBILISI MAYOR: BECAUSE OF DISDAIN FOR CONSTRUCTION SAFETY, WORKS SUSPENDED ON 120 OBJECTS
Economics

“At this stage, because of disdain for construction safety or wrongly implemented projects, warnings are issued to 500 objects”, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze declared at the capital government meeting today.

Out of this number, according to the Mayor, “272 construction objects are already fined”, while “suspension resolution entered in force concerning 120 objects”.

7. IN ZUGDIDI MUNICIPALITY, PITCHING WORKS CONDUCTED ON ENGURI RIVER
Economics

In Zugdidi municipality (Samegrelo region), pitching works are conducted in 6 places on Enguri River, Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure reported. During heavy rains, the river caused danger to local population, the Ministry noted.

8. COMMUNICATION COMMISSION CHAIRMAN: ACQUISITION OF “GEOCELL” BY “SILKNET” WILL CREATE MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR CONSUMERS
Business

Acquisition by SilkNet of the whole stake in mobile operator Geocell will create more opportunities for customers and will make products more affordable, chairman of National Communication Commission Kakha Bekauri assured.

According to Bekauri, “in case of merger, fixed costs will decrease that will create great opportunities for customers”.

9. REGULATING COMMISSION: VIOLATIONS, REVEALED WITHIN THE “MYSTICAL CONSUMER” PROJECT IN RESPECT OF SERVICE QUALITY, ERADICATED
Economics

The violations, revealed within the “Mystical Consumer” project in respect of service quality, are eradicated, National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission declared. The Commission received written notifications on the mentioned from distributor companies of Tbilisi – KazTransGas-Tbilisi (gas supply), TELASI (electricity supply) and GWP (water supply and sewerage).
