NBG: INFORMATION ON ALLEGEDLY INTENTIONAL FINING OF “CARTU BANK” IS TOTAL SPECULATION

Information distributed by the media about allegedly intentional fining of Cartu Bank (owned by the family of Bidzina Ivanishvili, billionaire founder and honorary chairman of the Georgian Dream) “is total speculation and is aimed at deliberately misleading the public”, the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) asserted in the special statement on February 17.

According to NBG, a number of inconsistencies with current regulations were established in the period from August to October 2023 in implementation and accounting of a specific transaction at Cartu Bank.
