GEORGIAN BROADCASTERS TO BE LIMITED IN RECEIVING FOREIGN FINANCING

Georgia’s parliament is considering legislative amendments that restrict the country’s broadcasters from receiving direct or indirect financing from foreign forces, with the exception of commercial advertising, teleshopping, sponsorship and placement of products or services in programs.

The amendments also limit acquisition of broadcasters by foreign forces and direct or indirect financing/co-financing by them of preparation of programs or their broadcasting.
