“CIVIC IDEA”: GEORGIA FACES REAL THREAT OF “DEBT TRAP DIPLOMACY”
“Considering Georgia’s past experiences in Sino-Georgian relations, the growing presence of Chinese financial institutions in the country raises credible concerns regarding potential debt-trap diplomacy”, declared the organization Civic Initiative for Democratic and Euro-Atlantic Choice (Civic Idea). The organization made the comment, following signing on March 26 of a memorandum of understanding between the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) and the Central Bank of China.
