    Victor Yushchenko will meet the President Eduard Shevardnadze, Chairman of the Parliament Zurab Zhvania and State Minister Giorgi Arsenishvili in the framework of his official visit. The Foreign Ministry of Georgia said the sides would focus on the economic cooperation during the negotiations on the issues, topical for both states.

  5. ADVANCE AGREEMENT OVER WB CREDIT ON FORESTRY DEVELOPMENT RATIFIED

    The Parliament ratified the agreement today on allocating advance of 950,000 Lari in the framework of the WB credit of $20 million (140 deputies voted pro, 2 – against). These sums will be used for conducting preparatory works, namely, elaborating the forest policy and standards as well as for the economic assessment of a forest.

    The Foreign Minister of Georgia Irakli Menagarishvili and Lithuania Algirdas Saudargas signed the protocol on deepening the cooperation between Foreign Ministries of the two countries. Menagarishvili declared during the briefing, held after signing the protocol, that the contractual-legal base, calling for the regulation of cooperation in political and economic spheres and security sphere, is begin created.

During the meeting, the sides will consider the questions concerning the development of the transportation of Caspian power resources.

However, at the last Strasbourg session the Georgian delegation, headed by the Chairman of the Parliament Zurab Zhvania unanimously backed the PACE decision on starting the procedure for Russia’s exclusion from the Council of Europe because of its activities in Chechnya.

  20. FINANCE MINISTER OF GEORGIA NOT PESSIMISTIC ABOUT GEORGIA’S FUTURE RELATIONS WITH IMF

    While evaluating results of the IMF mission which has recently finished its visit in Georgia, the Finance Minister Zurab Nogaideli declared in the Georgian TV that it was even possible to consider successful the work of the economic team with Fund experts.

    According to him, it was not in the agenda to deliver assistance to Georgia right after the visit of the mission.
