4. STRASBOURG COURT: PRE-TRIAL DETENTION OF THE FORMER PRIME MINISTER OF GEORGIA WAS USED AS MEANS OF PRESSURE UPON HIM

   European Court of Human Rights published today decision of Grand Chamber, according to which originally reasonable pre-trial detention of the former prime minister of Georgia Vano Merabishvili was unfairly used as means of pressure upon him later.

   The Chamber ruled (9 votes pro and 8 – contra) that Georgian government has to pay 4,000 EUR in compensation of non-material damage to Merabishvili.

5. Forbes Georgia: “GROWN IN GEORGIA – IMERETI GREEN BUSINESS”

   Greens and vegetables producer company Herbia, which employs 50 people, currently produces annually 500 t of 15 names of production and occupies 95% of packed greens segment, the magazine reports.

   As the article notes, the company, which was founded in 2006, accomplished construction of hothouse in 2008, while in 2013 – became the leader in packed greens segment.

6. THE GOVERNMENT HOPES TO SIGN CONTRACTS WITH SWISS “SGS” AT THE END OF NOVEMBER

   Georgia government reported that within Georgian-Russian informal dialogue, next meeting between Georgian Prime Minister’s special representative in relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin was held on November 16 in Prague.

   One of the subjects of consideration was problematics of agreement of 2011 between the governments of Georgia and Russia on basic principles of mechanisms of customs administration and monitoring of commodity trade, the government said.

11. GEORGIA’S REPRESENTATIVE ELECTED AS SECRETARY GENERAL OF UNWTO

    Georgia’s representative Zurab Pololikashvili is elected as secretary general of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Georgian Foreign Ministry reported.

    The new secretary general was approved at the 22^nd session of General Assembly of UNWTO, which is held in the Chinese city of Chengdu.

12. WITHIN “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA”, LLC “LGG” TO PROCURE NEW EQUIPMENT

    Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that LLC LGG (production of frames from metal-based laminate and aluminum) plans to purchase new equipment within “Produce in Georgia” state program.

    The company is going to increase output and to introduce standard of energy-saving processing of glass, the Ministry said.
