    STATE COMMISSION TO WORK OUT LONG-TERM PLAN OF GEORGIAN ECONOMY DEVELOPMENT

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili declared about creation of the state commission, which will work during 3 months on a long-term plan for the country’s economic development. He announced this at the government meeting today and noted that the commission will present initial document at the end of May.


    PREMIER: PROCESS OF SELECTION OF NEW POTENTIAL INVESTOR FOR ANAKLIA PORT WILL START IN THE NEAR FUTURE

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili declared that process of new potential investor’s selection for the Anaklia port “will start in the near future”.

    “The relevant agency of the Economy Ministry will start the procedures, envisaged by the law, to announce the tender”, the Premier said at the government meeting today.


    PREMIER: PUBLIC HAS QUESTIONS ABOUT “NAMOKHVANHES”, AND GROUNDED, PROFESSIONAL ANSWERS MUST GIVEN TO ALL QUESTIONS

    “Of course, there are questions in the public, and adequate, grounded, professional and qualified answers must be given to all questions”, Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili declared, while speaking on the subject of NamokhvanHES at the government meeting today.

    The Premier assigned the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture to visit the construction site personally on March 5 and “to start communication directly with the population”.

    IN FEBRUARY, ANNUAL INFLATION MADE UP 3.6%

    Sakstat reported that Georgia’s annual inflation rate in February made up 3.6%. Monthly inflation (i.e. compared with the previous month, January), made up 1.1%.


    STATE SUBSIDY PROGRAM TO BE LAUNCHED FOR SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED RESTAURANTS IN TBILISI

    At the government meeting today, Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced about subsidy program, which will be launched for small and medium-sized restaurant businesses, located in Tbilisi.

    The Premier indicated that the COVID-19 pandemic “has caused special problems for the tourism sector and those food objects that depend on tourists’ inflow”.


    ECONOMY MINISTER: UP TO 70 REGULAR PASSENGER FLIGHTS WILL BE CARRIED OUT WEEKLY DURING MARCH

    Natia Turnava, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, declared that after lifting restrictions on international air traffic by Georgian government, “Up to 70 regular passenger flights will be carried out weekly during March”. In summer, this figure will reach about 200 flights, she pointed.


    AGRICULTURE MINISTRY: WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF IFAD PROGRAM, 8 IRRIGATION SYSTEMS WERE REHABILITATED, 2 RIVER PITCHING WERE HELD AND 591 GRANTS ISSUED

    Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture declared about completion of AMMAR, “Agricultural Modernization, Market Access and Resilience” program of the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD). The program was launched in 2016.

    “GEORGIAN STATE ELECTROSYSTEM” CERTIFIED AS OPERATOR OF ELECTRICITY TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

    Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission certified Georgian State Electrosystem as operator of electricity transmission system.

    The Commission pointed that until December 31, Electrosystem must ensure fulfillment of requirements of plan on separation of transmission system’s operator.
